True. But, my concern from the get go has been that this is our Big East venture 2.0.

We get "in" and then all the teams flee. None of the remaining Big 12 wants to be in the Big 12. A couple got to the ACC, a couple to the Big 10, a couple to the PAC 12 and we are right back in the same boat.

Yep, Tx Tech, Baylor, TCU, Kansas St, BYU (if they stay), maybe Boise St, and some AAC schools. Maybe OK State 'cause they're dorks.

Yall look at it this way. What would we want to do to the AAC if we had the power? Drop the dead weight and replace them with better teams, right? So that may be essentially what happens. We get the best of AAC, the best of MWC, throw in BYU, and all under the BigXII banner. For a lot more money. Maybe not $47MM per, but a hell of a lot more than $7MM per.

I wish this was a given. But it isn't. They very well could decide to go Boise, Colorado ST, USF or others over us depending on the timing.

Regardless, Memphis football needs to at the very least maintain and basketball needs to take a step forward. Performance matters and the results will leave the lasting impression.

We also need to get this NCAA infraction taken care of as soon as possible.

Boise is the lock - Memphis is 'among other schools' and the B12 may be in no hurry to expand further.

May as well enjoy the next couple of seasons left with the AAC as it is and then see what happens but there's probably just as good or better a chance that Memphis doesn't get in as there is that it does.

That is the reality of the situation.

They got nowhere to go. If they did, they would have already bailed that dysfunctional conference. Maybe 1-2 get invites elsewhere. But that's it. Baylor ain't going nowhere. Same for TCU and K-State.
So it might not be the B12 of old, but it will be better than the recent AAC and miles better than the soon to be AAC.
