The irony of a sign showing a man getting a handy because he doesn't have protection at protective stadium and your first game vs Liberty who believes in abstinence is all too much to take in.

Looks good. The stadium will be a good thing for the city of Birmingham and UAB.
Question since I am not on this board a lot - what are the plans for Legion Field? For Ladd Peebles Stadium it's just a high school stadium anymore, with one bowl game and a "classic" game each year. Are there similar plans for Legion Field in Birmingham?
Another question - what is the purpose of the netting/gating above the upper deck of bleachers on the right side of the picture?

Top Golf from the upper deck.

The netting is Top Golf.
Legion Field-who knows. The Classic will stay there for now, the bowl game is moving to Protective. It's up to the city if they want to maintain it for a couple of events each year.

LF now has two different HCBU Classics. It should be, and eventually will be, torn down, but there are a couple of City Council members who are fighting tooth and nail to keep it open because it benefits their area. Reality is that it takes $1m a year or more to keep up with the maintenance on a nearly 100 year old stadium, and it's very unlikely to bring in enough revenue to justify that. Protective smokes it other than not holding 70k for the Classic, and eventually they'll work around that I suspect.

clt says just think if that funding went to schools, senior centers, roads….
Charlotte pays for new facilities out of our budget, not the city

Not our fault the City of Charlotte is not invested in the school's athletic programs.

clt says the city supports us, but doesn’t subsidize us.

RE: Protective Stadium - Current live view
Come on now some of you are real funny. What is UAB supposed to do? tell the city and county to go pound sand when they were offering free money and facilities. I haven't seen anyone reject free money even a 10$ bill much less hundreds of millions. I get what you guys are implying and if there is anyone who needs to be held responsible its the city and county leadership not UAB.

RE: Protective Stadium - Current live view
Some folks don’t know the story about the on campus stadium proposal that was never listened to by the trustees back in 2011 or 2012. That’s where #FreeUAB originated.
We took what we could get with protective stadium.
