He told another story during his address today where he talked about visiting the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh after the mass shooting that happened on October 27, 2018 where 11 people were murdered by a white nationalist nutjob:

What makes this quote particularly embarrassing, as Arthur Schwartz indicated above, is that the executive director for the synagogue told the New York Post in an interview not long after he made the statement that Joe Biden has never visited there, not after the synagogue massacre, nor before it:

“I remember spending time at the, you know, going to the, you know, the Tree of Life synagogue, speaking with them,” Biden said in a 16-minute virtual address ahead of the Jewish holidays Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Barb Feige, executive director of the Tree of Life, said that Biden did not visit the synagogue in the nearly three years since the anti-Semitic attack.

In a phone interview, Feige, executive director since July 2019, said firmly that “no” Biden didn’t visit, even before taking office when he had a lower public profile as a former vice president and then-Democratic presidential candidate.

Biden has issued statements on the anniversary of the Tree of Life mass shooting in the past but a simple Google search shows that there were no reports of him visiting the synagogue at any point, so unless he snuck in there without anyone knowing (highly unlikely, considering he would have had to be surrounded by Secret Service agents and other handlers) Biden has just been caught making up a story yet again.

I realize that there are very few politicians who haven’t either made up or embellished a story a time or two during their careers to try and make themselves more appealing to voters, but the fact that Joe Biden does this so often speaks to something far more problematic, which is a topic I’ll leave for commenters and others to dive into at length at a later point.

The problem with Biden’s story about visiting the synagogue is that it was not true, as was reported by the New York Post in a story that quoted synagogue executive director Barb Feige as saying that Biden had not visited the synagogue after the massacre, nor before it.

In an update to this story, the White House said today that Biden indeed did not visit the synagogue. They noted that it was actually a phone call he made to Tree of Life Rabbi Jeffrey Myers, who confirmed the call in a statement.

CNN filed a report on the White House’s supposed clarification. Note that CNN “fact checker” Daniel Dale still couldn’t bring himself to call Biden’s original comments for what they were:

What’s kinda-sorta telling about Dale’s “reporting” on the White House basically admitting Biden lied is that he waited on them to admit it rather than doing his job, which is to fact check the statements of politicians and other public figures independently, regardless of their confirmations or denials one way or the other. Then again, Dale is a noted Democrat apologist, so this shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to anyone.

For the record, even the left-wing site Snopes has issued a “false” ruling on Biden’s claim, though the piece hasn’t been updated to note the White House’s remarks from today as of this writing.

We haven’t heard yet from USA Today, the Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler, or Politifact, but considering their history of wrongly targeting Republicans and covering up for Democrats, we’re sure they’ll figure out a way to do some squirming on Biden’s behalf to minimize the damage from this embarrassing story.

As for the White House, you know it’s gotten bad when not even your allies at your favorite cable news network can cover up for the lies you tell anymore. I mean, really. Who mixes up a phone call and an actual visit in the aftermath of something as horrific as the Tree of Life mass shooting?

Press secretary Jen Psaki’s spin on all this should be quite amusing. Stay tuned.

My thoughts exactly. Had this been Trump every liberal would've gone ballistic over it, but when it's Puddin' brain they just kind of say "yeah, that's not a true statement" and then pivot on to some other topic to avoid pointing out yet another lie from this drooling vegetable.
