AAC Commissioner: "We Will Expand, Remain Power 6"
https://www.si.com/college/2021/09/08/bi...o-reaction

"Though Aresco declined to reveal potential new members, the top options are likely to start with UAB, a rising power in the G5 located in the heart of the Deep South. Football success is an important piece to any new additions, as well as fan support and school resources. Several others may fit that mold, including Air Force, Army, Colorado State, Boise State, North Texas, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina and Arkansas State."

I hate when articles are written with very little research. He could have gotten his sources from the AAC message board. No MWC team is going to be interested in a AAC without Cincy, UH, and UCF.

Aresco will pitch them on a best-of-the-rest. They won’t take it, but doesn’t mean they won’t try. The original drivers of the original “alliance” (cusa/mwc) are largely still in the American (SMU, Tulane, ECU)

Jim Dunaway hinting we could be hearing some good news soon:

@jimdunaway
Great news for @UAB_FB coming soon. AAC Commish Mike Aresco is a believer.
From @RossDellenger
on AAC Expansion:
The top options are likely to start with UAB, a rising power in the G5 located in the heart of the Deep South. @NextRoundLive
