But NJ might be that one state where the mounting expenses at potential taxpayer expense finally gets called out. Not “Rutgers 1000” level complaining, but straight up shaming and spotlighting into the ground, like what articles you have.

Covid was hard enough on higher ed and taxpayers. A state like NJ might be the battleground to combat this kind of awful management. I can’t imagine the other state schools being happy about the millions shifting around so casually. But, like Penn State in PA, Rutgers has so much support from both sides of the aisles in Trenton that it will take some significant shifts and calls from different voices to take on that fight.
