I can’t remember what the magic number is, but an Independent has to finish X or better to be in the CFP. Being top ranked non P5 isn’t enough. Anyway, I can’t see BYU winning out. I credit them for having a solid schedule thus far (two top 25 wins), but it gets much harder. They’ll lose, maybe twice.

Cincy has ND in two weeks, though we will see how far that potential loss drops them. Maybe not enough. Had Purdue pulled the upset vs ND this past week, that would’ve helped a ton. Lol.

Miami getting blown out didn’t help.

App needs to get better in various offensive situations. If we’re playing teams with similar talent I’m not sold we can execute just yet.

Now Cincinnati AND BYU would have to lose at least once (possibly twice) for an undefeated Coastal Carolina team to have a shot at the CFP Acess Bowl. CCU just has to take care of business and see where everything falls.

The Access Bowl is for conference-affiliated teams; BYU is independent and can't qualify. It's Cincy or Coastal's to win...and I see Fresno creeped into the Top 25 so I suppose they have an outside shot atm.

The bad thing is to keep pushing the narrative that the “G5” deserves a seat at the table, we need “G5” teams to beat every “P5” school at every opportunity.

This is part right… The four non-playoff bowls are required to take any non-playoff P5 Conf Champs, and the highest ranked G5 Champ. No, BYU doesn’t qualify. But, BYU is in play for one of the remaining spots. Just like ND, if not already in the playoffs.

So no, we aren’t directly competing for that one spot, but we are up against them for a possible second spot. If we can be a Conference Champ, yet 2nd ranked G5 (say Cincy is Champ and ranked 9), and we are ranked around that 12-14 rank.

As it stands Miami lost to Alabama and a 3-0 BIG10 team. Time will tell but it’s more likely that Miami just isn’t very good.

I still have App and Coastal as the top 2 teams. That game in Boone should be good

The PAC-12 says hello. Their winning percentage is only better than CUSA and MAC. If you filter out games against FCS, they’re still only better than CUSA and MAC.

This has the potential to be 300 pages long by December.

Two of our wins were struggle wins over a terrible Bowling Green(that won their first game over an FBS team in like 3 years this weekend over Minnesota) and an FCS team. We get the win over Louisiana, then maybe we deserve a vote or 2, but we still have a lot of proving to do.
