San Jose Mercury News Prick

The Houston fans have glommed onto Wilner because he thinks the Pac12 ought to add UH to their conference... Which, at this point, I'd be cool with.
UH to P12 excellent! Add Memphis instead.

He has some west coast bias. Probably pissed his team is stuck in the MWC or feels the MWC is superior to the AAC. Again, the San Jose Mercury News Prick is one for a reason.

While I absolutely love the angry version of 1992, Baird moved us up this week from 22 to 14. Still in donkey dick outlier territory, but better.

Yeah, that was me looking at the preseason AP poll mistakenly. So in other words, that was my second rant over the preseason poll. LOL. I need to step back from the ledge. I still can't stand Baird.

MOMMY SAYS I CAN'T RANK CINCINNAT-UH NO HIGHER THAN 14.

James Laurinaitis, former OSU linebacker and co-host of the 9am-noon show on 97.1 the Fan here in Columbus, said if he was selecting the CFP today, he would have Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, and Cincinnati as his 4 teams. So that's something.

RE: Polls
Here's how I would vote based on what I've seen so far:

1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Iowa
4. Oregon
5. Oklahoma
6. Cincinnati (we would be 4th or 5th without the two bad halves of football)
7. Clemson
8. Ohio State
9. Penn State
10. Texas A&M
11. UCLA
12. Florida
13. Notre Dame
14. Wisconsin
15. Virginia Tech
16. Ole Miss
17. Coastal Carolina
18. Auburn
19. Iowa State
20. Arizona State
21. BYU
22. Michigan
23. UCF
24. North Carolina
25. Arkansas

Just missed the cut: Michigan State, TCU, San Diego State, Miami (FL)

Dropped back to 8. Jumped by Iowa and oregon. 1 above OSU. ND dropped a bit as well. Honestly I'm not upset, Oregon and Iowa have better wins. Beat IU and ND and we'll move above aTm and Clemson

Noted elsewhere that if you combine 1st half of Miami and 2nd of Murray it's 70-0; but do the reverse and it's 21-21 - make of it what you will.

Right -- my feelings about it are fairly neutral. Nothing alarming about it necessarily, but I can't in good faith rank us ahead of anyone in the top 5 given we have not played complete games against lesser-talented opponents.

I know Georgia returned most of their players and are looking really good right now, but the fact that we also returned most of our guys and almost beat them 9 months ago makes me feel pretty good about our chances of being competitive if we get into the CFP. Not saying I would pick us over Alabama right now, but if we played them as the #4 seed in a CFP semifinal and lost by a score of, say, 38-24, even a competitive loss would help our perception as a legitimate national title contender in the future.

If we run the table, there's no doubt in my mind we are deserving of a CFP invitation. The committee would need to do a lot of mental gymnastics to justify putting a 12-1 OSU or Clemson team in ahead of us. After seeing Indiana and Notre Dame play, I'm fairly confident we will win both of those games. I think UCF and whoever we play in the AAC title game honestly might be equal or greater challenges to Notre Dame. If we do beat Notre Dame, I hope they can get to 9 or 10 wins. To do so, they'll need to beat the teams they're supposed to beat (Purdue, Navy, Georgia Tech, @ Stanford although that one could be tricky) and go 3-2 or better against what look to be their toughest match-ups (Wisconsin, @ Virginia Tech, USC, UNC, and @ Virginia).

Feels like Iowa is this years Texas A&M. They will be hard to jump even if they end up with a loss.

They only play 1 team with a pulse outside the state of Iowa and that’s not until October 30. So yeah. They will be in the CFP talk until OSU beats them down in the B1G championship game.

Clemson doesn’t play anyone the rest of the way but we won’t jump them unless they lose a second game.

Yeah... I don't see that as a foregone conclusion.

O$U don't look so hot this year. Their run defense is terrible and Iowa has a huge O line with an AA at center. Oregon was in control that entire game yesterday and had five starters, including their best player, out on defense.

We're ahead of OSU right now. I say we hope Iowa wins out (including O$U) and gets the B1G CFP spot.

Worst case scenario for us is O$U and Iowa both 12-1.

Not going to happen unless OSU completely reinvents its defense. I'm expecting that they'll pick up a conference loss and might not even make teh championship game. That D is horrible.

Yup. They are ok with us as long as they are ahead of us. If this sticks, watch the claws come out.

Coombs is the most-hated man in Columbus now.

Remember the calls from some on this forum for him to be a head coach in Cincinnati? Good times.

Straight from EleveWarriors. How many heads are exploding realizing Cincinnati may be a better team this year?

"I’m trying to understand why many of you think this is a good Ohio State football team. It’s not! Ninth is a gift. They’re not even a top 25 team. Can’t win games giving up 35 points and miles of rushing yardage. One thing is for sure the Buckeyes are not the best college football team in the state, Cincinnati is."

Guys in my section have yelled "Bring back Kerry Combs!!!", 20 times a game, for the last decade. Yes, I remember.
