We don’t HAVE to be terrible. We’re a good school near a sizable metro area - so in addition to having some local talent, more importantly there’s something nearby for kids from other more talent-rich places to do beyond what’s in the college town. The stadium itself is old enough that John Wooden helped build it as a summer job as a youth, but we have some other nice facilities and the stadium is in a beautiful place.
We do have to make the most of limited resources like Bill Snyder did down the road. But we will support the program if there’s a decent product on the field. If not, then true enough, we’ll pack Allen instead.
Yep, there’s also lots of JUCO talent in Kansas, so it would be another boost to your program if you could start tapping in to that. You guys played in a major bowl game in 2007, it can definitely be done again. Even Rutgers is going back on the right path again with Schiano.
In 8 years Mangino went to 4 bowls, and won 3 of them including an Orange Bowl. It CAN be done. But we dug ourselves a helluva hole out of which we first must climb.
For sure, how has Leipold’s recruiting been since he got there?
He has a few decent verbals, although I’ve gotten to the point where I tend not to pay much attention until LOIs are signed. We’ve had a lot of players upgrade over the years from the verbal to signing day.
I’ve been reading more about his process and focus, as well as that of our strength coach. Their attention to detail is what we’ll need.
Good to hear, hopefully you guys turn it around sooner rather than later

RE: Big 12 Games Week 2
I am definitely NOT a BYU fan, but after watching BYU SportsNation this morning, I'm getting stoked about rooting for them against Utah on Saturday. They're planning a Big 12 celebration day tomorrow, they're putting up "Welcome to Big 12 Country" posters and signs in Provo, they'll be commemorating 9/11 at the game with a Tower Climb and a flyover, they've lost 9 straight and no one in the rivalry has ever won 10 straight, they just had Stewart Mandel on after years of having him on and being asked about P5 possibilities and they all just laughed and celebrated - they are REALLY into this. It's gonna be a huge game and I'm not sure Utah knows what they're getting into. Very emotional.
It'll be on ESPN nationally late Saturday night. Utah is ranked. Hopefully, TCU will have beaten Cal to continue our undfeated streak against Pac 12 schools. It's definitely a game worth watching (for all Big 12 fans).

Ha ha. BYUTV is awesome. I don’t have time to watch all the football related stuff they have.
Thanks for the update. BYU fans appreciate the recap of the show. Probably a ton of B12 news everyone might be interested in. My dad watches it everyday.
I’d sure love to see a basketball invite only to Gonzaga. It would strengthen arguably the best basketball conference in the country.

Unfortunately, they didn't have time for the Dennis Pitta interview.

Whew! The Frogs won but just barely over Cal 34-32 due to some missed extra points and failed 2-pt conversions by the Golden Bears. We looked terrible in the 1st quarter as Chase Garbers picked out secondary apart, but gradually clawed out way back to some nice rushing by Evans and Duggan. Coach Patterson continues his unbeaten streak against Pac-12 teams - he's never lost to one. 2-0!

Frogs gotta figure out this getting beat deep issue, hopefully Noah Daniels is back soon because he is drastically better than CJ Ceasar.

If you're already counting UCF, Houston, BYU, and Cincy as Big 12 schools. Then just chalk this up as an SEC conference loss for Texas lol.

RE: Big 12 Games Week 2
Congrats to BYU! After watching what happened in Provo this week with the Big 12 invite and the absolute glee associated with it, I thought that this might happen. They just beat Utah for the first time since 2009; the fans stormed the field and made the Big 12 11-3 on the day. ISU, KU and Texas with the losses and the Longhorns losing doesn't bother me all that much.

If Texas couldn't win in the B12 I don't know how they are going to win in the SEC...at least in the near term. The extra money won't help them overcome the extra competition imo.
