RE: AQ7 Week Two
No Conference match ups this week. I do not think Dixie plays a full conference schedule and Tarleton does not count towards the AQ Standings. But Tarleton did get the first touchdown in conference play in the WAC's return to football!

Tarleton counts towards the WAC standings since they play a full WAC schedule; believe they also are in the AQ7 standings (forgetting off hand and too tired to look up)

Dixie State is not counting towards any standings

RE: AQ7 Week Two
-This year is kind of unusual because the Texas 4 had to expedite their move to the WAC and the WAC of course welcomed them, but adjustments had to be made since everyone was suppose to come in with SUU next season to kick off the WAC's return to football.
-Tarleton and Dixie were suppose to play independent schedules but I do not think Dixie could get out of most of their already scheduled games.
-Tarleton had to get out of some of their games. I believe they were suppose to play Bethune Cookman, Kennesaw and S DAK ST before the WAC moved up conference play to this year. Not sure if they rescheduled those games for another year or had to buy them out.
-None of the ASUN schools wanted to go to Utah anyway so it worked out for everyone that Dixie ( Utah Tech) would not play a full WAC/ AQ-7 schedule even though technically they are part of the WAC.
-Tarleton, also part of the WAC but technically not part of the WAC-ASUN Challenge since we are still in our probationary transition period to FCS from DII (2ND Year same as Dixie) and do not qualify for the post season during said period...even though we play everyone in the WAC plus 2 of the ASUN Schools (EKU and CAU)

So the way I understand it is even though Dixie and Tarleton are in the WAC, Dixie does not play ALL the other WAC teams this year and will have no bearing ( even if one of the WAC schools .."Texas 4" loses to them, it will not count as a "conference game" for purposes of the AQ spot. Same with Tarleton, even though they play all of the Other WAC schools (and SUU) and 2 of the 3 ASUN schools. A loss to Tarleton by any of the other WAC/ASUN challenge schools would not count against them for the AQ spot and for all intents and purposes will be treated as a non conference game...even though we are in the conference.....weird year!

Sounds right and on top of that due to scheduling issues Lamar and ACU play each other twice. One counts and one doesn't. I'm not sure which one is which.

The first ACU/LU game is a non-conference contest.

Quote:...[The Cardinals] host Abilene Christian (Sept. 25). The game against the Wildcats will be one of two contests between the two schools in 2021. The second meeting will come Saturday, Oct. 16th in Abilene. The first meeting will serve as a non-conference contest.

RE: AQ7 Week Two
I think on the initial schedule Tarleton had Lamar twice, I think it was suppose to be the first game where we played SFA. Given the situation the Southland put the Texas 4 into making them leave a year earlier, it threw everyone's schedule in to a mad mess. But it all worked out in the end just fine because everyone worked together.

RE: AQ7 Week Two
Safe to say within the “WAC” portion of the league that through two weeks, looks like it’s Sam and SFA at the top. Not 100% who would be next if it’s a full tier or not but feel Tarleton should be there than there’s a drop off to the rest of the league

RE: AQ7 Week Two
Yea with hindsight, if SFA goes for the FG and got 3 points early in the 1st, instead of going for it deep in Tech territory (which they did not get) and kicking the extra point, instead of going for two (which they did not get) the score would have been 28-26 with the Jacks driving to the Tech 5 and kicking the game winning field goal, but they had to go for the TD on 4th and goal.

But either way, SFA has got them a team that has just put everyone on notice. We will have to stay healthy though, our RB pool is getting shallow as we were down to our 5th string RB last night. Pretty healthy everywhere else.

RB:#21 DA’LEON WARD 5-10; 189 (SR.) OUT
RB:#24 JAQUARION TURNER 5-11; 220 (R/FR.) OUT
RB:#26 MILES REED 5-8; 190 (SR.) HURT against Tech
RB:#43 ROBERT MCGRUE 5-7; 177 (SO.) Banged up against Tech

Down to two RBs
RB:#34 JA’BRAY YOUNG (SO.) 5-9; 215 (FR.) played
RB:#35 TRE’JON HENDERSON 5-11; 212 (SO.) played

We also have a freshman Korbyn White but he is injured and did not play.
RB:#29 KORBYN WHITE 5-9; 185 (FR.)

RE: AQ7 Week Two
SHSU and SFA should be the top 2 WAC schools...after that it is hard to really say who 3-6 would be. Tarleton, ACU, Dixie, Lamar would be my guess, but not super confident in that order. Out of the ASUN teams, Jacksonville St just beat Florida St so I would put them above SHSU and SFA at the moment. Cen Ark looks pretty good, do not know about Eastern Kentucky

And if you counted NMSU in there than they would be placed somewhere after Lamar 03-lmfao

RE: AQ7 Week Two
You may not be too far off, probably at least 6 or 7 of these teams could beat NMSU.

Lost big to Tarleton State and Dixie State came close.
