This is a hard one for us... not expecting a W but we need to be competitive.

I’m sure D’Eriq King will be fine. I haven’t heard anything to say he’s had any lasting effects but he did come off the field limping early vs Alabama so it’s possible he’s not 100%.

I don't have a good feeling about this. best case scenario for us would be for UM to keep it close or shock Alabama with a win. Now they're pissed and need to win this game even more.
They might have overlooked us otherwise, now we get their full attention.

This is the toughest team we've faced since 2018 Penn St.
I won't be surprised if Miami comes out and jumps up by three scores or if we hang with them for three quarters. We'll need pressure on their QB and make some early passes to get their safeties out of the box.
I hope we win the toss, defer, and hold them out of the end zone two of their first three possessions. If we can do that it'll be a competitive game.

With our starting safety out I would not be shocked if we took the kick and tried to burn the first half away.

Miami didn't play bad at Alabama. They got beat for big plays at inopportune times thanks to Alabama having an All-World defensive line. Miami tried doubling, passing guys off, running away from, etc. Yet their right side was still beat like a drum on what seemed like every other play. Based on what I saw, I'm not even confident that the right side will get Spurlin blocked, considering he plays with the same finesse as Alabama's end (the end didn't have to bull rush him most times, he would swat his hands and dip right or left).
App will have their shots, it comes down to making them count. I have more faith in the offense in 2021 than I did in 2016, particularly once Cox went out after Meadors was called for holding using the same exact technique Miami's receivers were using on the bubble screens.
Still salty about that.

Miami will be looking to blow yall out. The sports news networks have been trashing them since the Bama game. Miami won't take this game lightly.

We'll certainly have the full attention, and expect them to be jacked up coming out. I still wonder about the locker room dynamics down there. They've had great athletes for a while now, but they have a hard time playing consistent ball. They're going to score and hit some big plays at some point in the game as they just have too many good athletes. Can we answer those scores with some of our own? To me, our lack of offense in 2016 was as big of a problem as them scoring since the defense was constantly on the field.

App needs to contain King when plays break down as he can kill you with him legs. That's one of the things that ECU's QB did well was get positive yardage on broken down pass plays. App can't give the U gift first downs and/or scores on broken plays. I expect a competitive game but App HAS to play from the opening kick and not have to play catch up early. App should be well rested and ready to go and hopefully Miami will have some lingering effects from such a physical game with Bama.

Pray for a heavy thunderstorm so they'll cancel the game like they did when they were supposed to come to our place. LOL.
Seriously, this one is going to be hard on your D. If they can hold them to more FGs than TDs I think you have a shot.

I was told that a cute person at a party in Miami 2 weeks ago asked King how he felt, his answer was 80%.
We should test his acl with a few early blitzes

Hate “The ‘U’” and all their damn arrogance, history, and boosters. While I’ve always been impressed with the “pull for your conference mates” mentality of the Sun Belt, and happily came around quickly to it, I’m not sure I’ve ever been sooo fully on your side, App St. Please, get this one done.

This Cajun will be pulling for App. The SBC needs to get another team back into the Top 25.

It's a lot easier when you're not in a conference with Liberty.

Not saying we can't pull it off, but Bama beating them like they did certainly didn't do us any favors.
