The Big 12 has some depth issues this year. I don’t think Oklahoma is that good, but they don’t have a clear cut #2 yet (I don’t think that school is Iowa St)

I suppose that may still be Texas. Knee-jerk after losing to "lowly" Arkansas was to favor the Cyclones who lost to Iowa.

Updated the graphics a bit so the responses are on the same page as the results (also added a tracker for non-playoff NY6 votes). Our week 2 CFP:

EDIT: keep voting if you'd like. Traditionally the window is closed 12pm Saturday to 12am Sunday, but I can't block it since migrating to this board.

Added a beta version of the 8-team playoff using our votes. Bracket is "fixed" prior to CCGs so each game has a particular bowl attached to it. Yes, this means a #16 team upsetting the #1 or #2 team in a CCG means you'll be playing the #7 or #8 team. Thought it a fun quirk.

I'm sure there are bugs yet in the bracketing code, but any remaining will reveal themselves only as votes pour in and the bracket shifts. If you F5/refresh the page the results of the CCG/Playoff games should shift. These results are based on pre-programmed percentages and don't pull from the actual team-strength.

In the below sim, Georgia loses to Alabama yet snags the last at large and climbs all the way back (defeating Oregon in the Rose, Oklahoma in the Cotton, and Clemson, again, in the Final) to win their first National Championship in 40 years!

As of right now, I think the four playoff teams would be Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Oklahoma. G5 rep would be Cincy.

Think we will end up with 3 SEC teams in the CFP.

Possibly, Florida or an upstart like Arkansas or Ole Miss. All three have looked good thus far.

Arkansas shows up in the 6+6 format, but it seems most voters still favor Florida. Could change after this weekend if the Hogs topple the Bulldogs. Even Clemson is the most-favored ACC team, but I've cut them out of the ACC Championship sims because they no longer control their own destiny.



I've also updated this page so that teams advance through the playoff sims with weight given to their vote portion. Lots of Georgia-Alabama rematches in the National Championship. Once you are in the GoogleDoc, hit F5 to observe new simulations.

Bugs were also worked out in the main page where 2 SEC teams showed up in the Sugar Bowl or 2 Big Ten teams in the Rose Bowl. Still some loopholes there, but rarely come up.

Screenshot from the "Big Playoffs" page. ACC is considered AQ for the Wild Card playoff, that is why their champ gets in over Coastal. Wake Forest is ranked ahead of ASU and would have taken the #12 spot in the 6+6 if they had defeated Pittsburgh. Tips on how to better format playoffs (or to add a new one) are welcome.

Yes, Bama is gone unless they win out. But a 2-loss Bama team doesn't belong over a ton of undefeated or 1 loss teams. If they want in, they need to win out and beat Georgia (and then the SEC gets 2 in after all). TAMU was not a good team - they barely survived over an awful Colorado team. Yes, winning at Kyle Field in front of 110K crazies is tough, but good teams do that.

Georgia is clearly #1. Iowa is now #2 and has the schedule that can keep them there if they keep winning. But they will need to win out because they don't play either Michigan, Michigan State or Ohio State until a potential Big 10 Championship game. OU or Oklahoma State are legitimate contenders from the Big 12 if they keep winning. And then Cincy is in a really solid position too.

If one of those teams falter (besides Georgia), there are plenty of other teams ready to swoop in there and get into the top 4. But not Bama. They're toast (unless they win out).

There ain't going to be a ton of undefeated or 1 loss teams. Only 8 undefeated P5 teams right now and only what is it 17 1 loss teams. We are going to have a 2 loss team in the playoffs this year I think.
