They got Blackman (FSU transfer) at QB and I remember that guy being god awful! Tons of interceptions and very bad decision making.

But, I wasn't impressed with the Memphis defensive ends rushing the QB or even hurrying the QB really. Need to improve there.

Our offense looked so vanilla, but was probably due to playing D2 team and not wanting to show much razzle dazzle. I just wished I could have seen a few more over the middle passes for 10+ yards. The run game was cooking, but we need to be able to throw the ball to open that run game up against better opponents.

I was dying to see Brown or Parrish do a QB keeper and get to the edge and show off some of that speed. Also, a few throws out of each of them would have been nice to see to gauge the arms....but we didn't get to see that.

Memphis is still a question mark for me and now going on the road to a better opponent leaves me a little worried. I see the game being close and Ark St subbing in Hatcher at QB to give them a close win 30-28.

Not much rush with the 3 man front.

A lot will depend on who ASU starts at QB.

Their starter stunk up the place but they switched QBs and had 5 straight TD drives.

James Blackman 16 26 61.5 169 0 0 86.3
Layne Hatcher ... 12 12 100.0 150 4 0 158.3

Gunnel is out this week also.
Watkins is out with a leg injury.
Cam'Ron Jackson is questionable with a shoulder injury.

Central Arkansas doesn't have track star speed at the WR position. They also don't have our depth at O Line or RB.
07-coffee3 Too bad we are not playing Central Arkansas. Try Arkansas State.

RE: Tigers open as 5.5 pt favorites against ASU
While the thinking in preseason was that Memphis would come in around an eight point favorite, and UCA a 13 point underdog, the game everyone was worried about them covering the spread on was UCA, not Memphis. UCA is a very talented team-especially their QB and receivers, that many felt would be in the hunt for the an FCS Championship this year, and sometimes FBS players have a hard time getting up for a FCS team. Think Jones was happy to get them in the rearview mirror.

The only issue going into the Memphis game is will the depth chart be the same as it was against UCA. Their depth chart against UCA had some veteran starters in backup roles, or not even on it, that have been outstanding players for them-especially on the OL, and was missing some very talented transfers at WR and RB. We are talking about difference makers.

Butch Jones would only say there were some players that were not ready for the UCA game, that should be ready by game 2, 3 or 4.

The previous post was implying that the Tigers are going to be far more explosive and deeper than UCA so it will be a harder test for ASU.

Mind your own business. I was pointing out that Memphis had more talent than stAte's last opponent.

Yes we do Drew….so please make a concerted effort to keep your male fans out of it. If the women are weight proportionate, they will be allowed.

That's one of the problems with reading something as opposed to hearing someone saying it sometimes.
You don't hear inflections...sometimes how something is said, and who it is said to can also convey meaning.
Rick... I messed up...and I apologize.
I thought the comment was towards me.
I will try to be more thorough when I read as opposed to cursory glances.
Again... I'm sorry.
