TaxAct Texas Bowl: LSU vs Kansas State
LSU and Kansas State meet in the penultimate game of the 2021 CFB season.

Between opt-outs and transfers, LSU is suiting only 39 scholarship players, including no quarterbacks. So hard to see how Kansas State loses this one, they reportedly are at full strength.

IIRC, this is the second bowl sponsored by TaxAct, the other being the Camelia Bowl, which was played on Christmas day.

8 PM CT kickoff on ESPN!

How was that NOT unsportsmanlike against LSU. I might have even kicked the guy out of the game.

Maybe because LSU only has 38 scholarship players they are trying to keep them all around.

Hats off to LSU for showing up to play with 38 scholarship players, no quarterbacks, and an interim head coach. I can think of other schools in similar or slightly better circumstances that didn't play their bowl game.

They may get their heads handed to them, but at least they showed up.

KSU rolls 42-20 with LSU scoring on a flea flicker on the last play.

Last bowl of the season. Only the game in Indy left.

Nice win for my mom, dad and uncle's school tonight. Wish they were still around to enjoy it.

I'll have some ice cream tomorrow in their honor :)

Is that grape flavored? I'm not sure I would ever want grape flavored ice cream.

Yes, LSU had every reason in the world not to play this game, they had zero chance to win with all the opt-outs and transfers, etc.

So yes, hats off to them. But too bad that resulted in not much of a game to watch. I turned it off in the first quarter after K-State converted like their fourth straight 3rd-and-10. LSU had no defense at all, and no offense.

LSU also had $6.3 million (according to Wikipedia) reasons to play it. Go ahead and tell the SEC office and the rest of your conference members you're not playing because you have zero chances of winning. Last year a 3-7 team played in a bowl game (ironically they won it!) I believe the Pac 12 has a policy that a sub .500 team can't play in a bowl even if they qualify via APR. I'm pretty sure the SEC has no such policy and sub .500 SEC teams played in bowls (and pre COVID as well, 2016 Mississippi State).

That seems a very foolish rule that can only cost the conference and a member school money and exposure, in addition to extra practices that could help the sub .500 team improve for the next season. Granted most years see very few sub .500 teams play in bowl games, but why would you foreclose the possibility by rule? Rutgers stepping in to save the Gator Bowl, for instance, was a positive for Rutgers, Wake Forest, and the B1G and ACC.

I believe it's blueberry flavored.

I thought the game was entertaining. A lot more so than say Alabama vs. Mercer. LSU still had some good athletes and ran down some runners/receivers on long plays.

the pac12 0.5+ bowl policy didn't help them win bowls this year; i guess it couldn't have been worse without it.

Yup, blueberry.

I just have some french vanilla in the freezer, which I have to get rid of before the termite fumigators come (hit the jackpot, have both subterranean and drywood termites 04-rock), and some fresh blueberries. I'll probably just serve the ice cream and make a pouring syrup of blueberry sauce to pour over it.
