I love the optimism! This would tie Rice's highest scoring game with Bloomgren as head coach (Rice scored 34 against MTSU in 2020).

In Bloomgren's 31 games at Rice, Rice has scored 30+ points on 5 occasions (31 vs. Prairie View in 2018; 31 @ MTSU in 2019; 30 @UTEP in 2019; 34 vs. MTSU in 2020; 30 @So. Miss in 2020).

As the counter-weight to predicting that Rice will score 30+ points, Rice has scored 10 or fewer points on 6 occasions under Bloomgren (though at least none of these occurred in 2020 or 2021).

It's honestly a tossup to me, but we're at home, the defense is amazing, and I think Wiley will redeem himself. Arkansas had ten returning starters on defense. We should be able to push Houston around just enough to win a close one. A real close one.

Please don't tell me you actually want Green to start and get the majority of the snaps again? Seriously?

Green needs to start if McCaffrey isn't ready. Bloomgren is trying to hold onto his job. He must feel Green gives him the best chance to win.

I doubt that's the case. IMO, Bloomgren gave Green the start and every opportunity to prove himself-- and then redeem himself-- because he's a senior co-captain; whereas McCaffrey is the newbie. McCaffrey did not come here to sit on the bench, and Bloom didn't bring him here to do so.

Afflicted strikes again. Every once in awhile, the fake cover of "Ourland" slips off. Tool.

McCaffrey came to sit the bench until he knows what he's doing. Until then, Green will play. On good day, he's average at best, but he knows the offense.

For what it's worth, Bill Connelly's SP+ has Houston at a 67% chance to win, but only by one TD, 28-21. He's confident enough that he's calling us to cover despite the spread being only +8.

That said, his system is also projecting that Norfolk State scores exactly 4 points at Wake Forest. This is not a precise science.

Good to hear. We're also not even sniffing ESPN's Not Top 10, probably more a result of being relegated to SECN+ than anything.

Unfortunately for you (but good for me!), Tomball Owl no longer lives in Tomball. But I will be driving in from Comal County for this weekend's game and VB matches. Go Owls!

Does anyone meet up before or after the games? I'm in town to celebrate my parent's 70th wedding anniversary and will try to make the match. (First game in like forever. Unfortunately no longer in the Owl or Stadium Club. )
Is the ticket office still at Autry Court or am I showing my age?

Sorry, I won't be there, but please remember which side of the road to drive on.

Use the Ticketmaster mobile app to purchase your ticket. Will be a much more seamless experience than standing in line outside HRS.

On a different note, I might suggest Baileson Brewing on Bissonnet between Kirby and Greenbriar (next to where Kays used to be) for a pregame beer or to pick up crowlers for your tailgate. Owned by a Rice grad. 11 beers currently on tap including Intellectual Brewtality and Cruz Control. I have seen Rice gear on patrons there.

McCaffery took the vast majority of first team reps this week.
