Early in his coaching CC seemed to love the two QB thing. Sometimes with Grissom it was a 3 QB thing. Really not sure how I feel about except to say the team seems to click better with one running the whole show. I not totally sold that all the folks listed on the depth chart will be able to play aagainst Wisconsin.

I agree and said similarly that CC liked 2 QB's. I was shot down by a few on this board about that. Im hopeful that this all shakes itself out by the end of OOC in time for MAC play. You cant find a rhythm as a QB switching every series and perhaps more importantly the O-line needs to adjust to a single QB. I think CC is doing it right by letting the players dual it out themselves and prove it over a few games.

I think Hutch will win the job - but lets be honest he takes so many hits when he scrambles its not an if its a when he gets hurt.

I think Coach knows he has two quality and capable quarterbacks and is waiting for one to outshine the other. I also think he is trying to give Bryant every opportunity to become the starter, since he is a senior and it will be his last shot this year. IMO I think Bryant should be named the starter, because he was the better passer last week. If they are going to win on Saturday, they need every advantage they can get. With that being said, what also matters to CC is trust in running the offense the way he wants it ran. He knows Hutch will run it the way he wants, and won't go rouge. I think that would be the only reason that Hutch would get the nod to start on Saturday. I don't think CC liked Roback that much, because he had a tendency to go rouge when they got behind, and would try to force a ball in double coverage, or take too many shots down field. I think Roback understood that by the end of his senior year.

The iconic places to eat or the places they highlight on tv during games are Mickies Dairy Bar for breakfast/brunch, which is right across the street from Camp Randall, but its first come first serve, cash only, and pretty busy on a football Saturday. It's a greasy spoon mid-century style eatery known for their scramblers. State Street Brats is on State Street, which is a pedestrian mall, the connects the Capitol to Bascom Hill. It's a two story bar, not a ton of seating, but a place to grab a drink and a white or red bratwurst. For dinner I usually go to The Old Fashioned, which is on the Capitol Square, they are known for their Wisconsin styled food, including what many say are the best cheese curds, and the Wisconsin old fashioned made with brandy.

There are a decent amount of places to eat around the Capitol Building and along State Street. I have had breakfast and dinner at Graze and enjoyed it, which has good views of Capitol.

On Saturday morning, the Dayne County Farmers Market is set up around Capitol Square and you can find food there as well from local vendors. The BigTen Network did a piece on Stella's Bakery, which makes a spicy cheese bread that everyone seems to love and they usually have a tent at the Farmers Market.

At night State Street is more of a college hangout and places around the Capitol tend to be an older crowd

Madison is one of two major U.S. cities on an isthmus, and both lakes, Monona and Mendota, are within walking distance. You can sit and have drink or bite to eat at the UW Memorial Union Terrace on Lake Mendota. On the other side, is the Monona Terrace, this is closer to the capitol square and houses a convention center. There is also a small memorial to Otis Redding.

Tailgating happens all over town, Wisconsin puts on Badgerville, located just north of the stadium a few hours before the game and it's free to anyone. Drinks and food are available and there is live music. I think the UW band plays as well.

They do not sell beer at Camp Randall

Wisconsin fans will not attack you for wearing green and white. You might get a comment from a college kid, but most people there are friendly and want you to enjoy your stay in Madison.

Greg,

Thank you for all the information. Really appreciate the Madison insight!

I really believe we’ll cover.

And I detest the two QB thing. Hutch should be the QB on every series. Passers need to be able to get in rhythm. That’s impossible the way CC plays them.

Fired up for the game tomorrow. Being on the big stage is always fun. Just play the best football we are capable of and let the chips fall where they may.

Couple things I am looking forward to seeing....

1. I want to see how Beydoun and Drummond do against Power5 D.B.'s. I think both of these guys are exceptional and I am hopeful they do well.

2. QB Battle. I figure this will be who can limit the mistakes will have the edge and whoever can keep drives alive for extended periods will take the advantage.

3. Can our O-line continue to make progress. Big test against the size of Wisconsin but I think our guys are good as well. I also feel like we are deep enough that we can sub a lot to counter that.

4. I would love to see Boone get close to 75 yards. Random number but would show his ability and justify a Doak Walker candidate nomination early in this season

Nice post. Agree with all of it. One thing to keep an eye on is the play-calling. CC seems to open up the entire playbook in games like this. I don't think he got past page 2 last week. I swear emu only ran about 5 different plays. Don't be surprised if Beydoun throws a pass.

Are we sure Beydoun is good to go? He left with an injury during the St Francis game.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a minor injury and they took him out to be cautious. But I haven't heard one way or the other on him. Same with Donnellon, but fans saw him on crutches so I assume that is a longer term injury.

Great post as always! Boone to me has NFL abilities! If he can rush for 75 plus yds against a very good Wisconsin defense, that'll tell me alot, especially since Penn St didn't run the ball that well! My concern is our DL and Melluci, who's a man out there! He's way above A MAC RB! Size, power, and speed!

I agree with your assessment on Boone. When we recruited him and Branham I thought Branham would be THE guy but Branham left and Boone has been great. I expect a lot of dinking and dunking passing to the T.E.'s tomorrow which where not featured last week and the RB's in a lot of pass protection.

Frank I don't know about Beydoun but I agree with you on Donnellon. Curious about Paul Ryland Smith Jr. and some of the other guys who didn't dress for St Francis. I know the game notes say they are available and I hope so. Guess we will see at game time.

I think Ryland is fine. Just seemed like a cramp. The others I can't comment on.

That will be good Ryland is a game changer and of course a main player in each of the upsets of B10 teams.
