RE: Small dose of hope for those interested.
The main difference between this realignment and the previous ones is we now have our own Board of Regents and do not have to rely on board members from other schools making decisions in their school's best interest.

None of the stuff going on at the south campus and the main campus expansion would not be going on if we were still under the state board of regents.

R1 status is coming. It may take some time but it is coming.

We may still be held back by our admission standards, but as the city commuter school, it will not be possible to raise standards very high.

The majority of our students come from a school system where over 50% of high school graduates must take remedial courses before they can start earning credits.

In some schools in that system, 90% of graduates have to take remedial courses when entering college.

We need to focus heavily on post graduate studies due to our undergraduate program behind in so many ways.

Do you want this team competing with you for recruits and wins?

Yea, that kept the SEC from taking in Tx and Ok. Good point01-wingedeagle.

The conference needs better teams instead of fearing them.

It’s a thought exercise. “Spitballing” if you will.

Texas and OU have been down, especially Texas. Texas has been down with one of the largest FB budgets in the country.

I don’t think Alabama or LSU or basically anyone in the SEC is worried about adding those schools except maybe for Arky, ole miss and a handful of others. They aren’t coming in and handing out Ls. What they are doing is coming in with a lot of eyeballs for games and bargaining power for TV contracts.

All of the schools taken were worthy - just as we are. At first I was skeptical - but looking at all we've done over the last 5 years and then comparing us to the others, there seems to be something else in play. Usually I am a glass half full sort of guy - and I was absolutely sure we would be included, but given that what just happened I have no reason to believe anymore. In fact, as it stands now, if the 12 goes to 14 I am fairly convinced that they will find some way to screw us over - and I keep wondering why?

For us it appears we will always be on the outside looking in as others pass us by. No one should doubt that if the 12 does go to 14 they will somehow deem Colorado St and Boise, or this school and that school more worthy while continuing to assure us we are somehow 'next'.

We can survive in a watered down AAC - but we have a chance to thrive, to excel....in a Best of the Rest conference of like minded schools. Maybe not our first choice but certainly our best choice: Go West. Screw sitting around getting our hopes up to yet again have the door slammed in our face in a few years. No one is coming to save us - until proven otherwise it's just all BS.

I'm going to guess that most here aren't NFL fans vs Tiger fans, but with 4 NFL expansions in the 70's thru the 90's, where we were supposedly a finalist and never made the party, that these last two Big XII go rounds have reminded me so much that Memphis is a big-time bridesmaid.

ouch

RE: Small dose of hope for those interested.
Why's everybody always picking on Ike
We know that's Ike down on the street
IKE's just workin, trying to make things neat
Please Ike has no schtick, Ike is on the street checking with sources and trying to bring some fun and enjoyment into the Hearts of TIGERNATION.
Ike never said we'd be joining the BIG, he did say a couple of BIG teams would love to add TIGERNATION
And Ike said they would love to be in the middle of the mid south market. Ike believes the BIG will have a say in the final realignment. IKE's more optimistic on the ACC, they too like the mid south market. IKE's sources say
West Virginia will probably end up in ACC, unfortunately not at this time.
Ike must again tell u Dudes what IKE's sources tell Ike, Memphis must gain respect, stop playing OOC CUPCAKES and play decent programs. How did Tulane get games with ohio state and Oklahoma and of course
UTSA beat Illinois yesterday and we crushed a CUPCAKE. Hire someone with the skills and connections to
Get decent OOC games. Try playing these schools, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Arizona state, Arizona, Virginia
Anybody in the 12. U wanna join, play them, beat them.
BTW, a great crowd last nite, what was it 22, 25K, but we won, step one to a meaningless bowl game.
IKE's going to celebrate last night's victory today and into tomorrow, Ike shall open a crystal bottle of LOUIE
sit in the hot tub, sip LOUIE COGNAC and sing songs and dance. Perhaps Ike needs a unicorn outing while he figures life out.
IKE's sources tell Ike good things gonna happen at TIGERNATION, please LAY LOW AND DANCE

Ike is correct. Playing cupcakes is not the way to gain respect and eyeballs on TV. I know schedules are worked out years in advance, so does anyone know where to find our OCC cupcake schedule for the next few years?

You could debate we were a better team (some seasons) going 6-5 with Stobart playing a tougher schedule. However, back then 6 wins didn’t get you in a bowl and I doubt we had more respect. I don’t think we’ve played a rat schedule in the AAC, but we definitely played tougher games back then and it didn’t equate to jack squat. Balance is definitely required in scheduling.

Who has gone winless TWO times since 2000.

Even we have never gone winless.

They are quite capable of handing out a ton of Ws to their new conference members.

Rocky mountain tiger,
Ike never said the schools selected were not worthy, Ike would of loved to see Memphis and smu added
IKE's of the opinion had we been playing a tough OOC schedule we would of been included
Hopefully two more programs will be added next yr as realignment shakes out and Penny rolls into the final 4
At this point basketball seems our best option

If that ends up being the case, I'm sure they won't mind, as long as their fans keep buying season tickets and new BigXII gear.

So this is a "small does' of "hope" thread.

Could all the losers in a rainy day parade, boo birds, Ike attackers, Ike apologists and negative Nancie's go visit one of the other threads on this topic?

Let's have a ray of hope thread for those of us who are eternal optimists....

Here's a ray of hope. No comment about all this from anyone in our administration, that I've seen. No defiant speeches, no "no comments", nothing. No reports from "inside sources". Is something still going on behind the scenes?

Maybe everyone at the university is under tight orders to stay quiet until there's an official announcement, and then we'll get the usual spin. But not even our big boosters are talking.

Maybe everyone on here is over-reacting to a Yahoo Sports internet article that literally says nothing.

I saw a TV news sports report tonight that Houston, Cincy, UCF and BYU might apply for B12 membership this coming week. Really? That's the big story?

Ever since OU & Tex formally notified the B12 they were leaving, haven't countless schools "applied" for membership?

Didn't we hear last week that those 4 might be invited to join this week? Now it's that they might "apply" for membership.

It wasn't very many days ago that "sources" were saying that Houston was definitely out of consideration because of bad blood from a few years ago.
