Times like this I want to laugh at the joke but there are honestly people that feel that way.

RE: Fire Rahne
Some of you guys are a trip.

We played 2020s's 26th in the nation ranked passing team which averaged 281 yards per game, and held them to 188.
WF was ranked 28th in total offense at 444 yds/g and we held them to 352.
Even more impressive, the WF offense returned all 11 starters, so they were ready to play in the system and with each other right out of the gate.
Our defense held it's own for the whole game, and as the players mature and get used to the system, it will get even better.
Further, the the above WF rank and stats wer achieved in the P5 ACC.

Unlike our rushing game, even in the Lawry years, vs Wake we showed sweeps, that worked. We can now run the edge vs having like a million sets that all ended up between the tackles.

So, unlike well.... ever in FBS, we have a legit defense and a real rushing game.
Unlike ever in FBS we have an OL!

We even had a screen pass go for positive yards last night!

So, we need to deal with the QB issue. DJ has shown brilliance at a higher level than we are. I don 't know why he was so tentative last night. That could have been a one off. I don't know.
Hayden Wolff is the real deal, and has shown that in 2 seasons.
In any event We will ultimately be fine at QB, and with Smartt, fine at WR.

Unlike some on here, I was very, very encouraged by most of what I saw.

04-cheers

I wouldn't go as far to same I'm "very encouraged" but, you did talk me down off a ledge. After a day to think about it, you're right. We need to take our opponent into equation. They are pretty decent. If we can build off this performance, against a weaker CUSA schedule we should be alright by the end of the year.

Impressed with Smartt. Who knew he could catch and run and even return kicks.

Smartt could turn out to be a very productive player after all. He's big and athletic. Hoping for good things from him at WR or even RB.

We had 634 days to prepare ....anyway The Liberty game had better not be a blow out because that will certainly make some people think.

This thread should be moved to the idiot board. Or the lack of football knowledge board.

We should be better this year., and believe we will be. But after seeing how CUSA is looking coming out of the gate, we may not have many if any more wins than 2019.

I usually respect your opinion, but I would label you a defeatist given the facts. Surrender all you want. I saw TREMENDOUS improvement from our last football season. I know you wish we were in the caa in football and the A-10 in basketball - and it has blurred your vision re: the game last night.[/u]

So, you want us in a better conference so our teams will get better. Our conference is potentially looking great in football, but now you are bummed about that?

I am confused

I hope your right. I’ll be there cheering our guys on. Just was hoping for better yesterday. I did see some improvement in the defense and the Oline. I want to be optimistic. I really do.

Not at all. I’m glad CUSA is looking better. I’m bummed because OUR team didn’t compete better and the fact that our conference competition looks to be stronger than ever (a good thing) probably means fewer wins for the Monarchs than I had hoped going into the season. I’m dying to see our guys have winning seasons again.

Here is a fact you need to accept. We are never going back to the fcs/minor league and, consequently, never play in the A-10. These are truths you need to accept.

FWIW, I’d be ok with Indy FBS and A10 too. I don’t dislike CUSA football at all. We obviously have plenty to prove in this league on the gridiron. I just hate what being in CUSA does to our basketball and miss meaningful conference games.

Indy isn’t an option either. No way, no how.
