No they won't but who cares right? It's just a message board.
Kick ass out of conference, look good on TV and maybe play on New Year's Day a time or two and watch how fast they warm up to us.

Or maybe just beating a couple of good non-CUSA teams first. Baby steps fella!

I'm still dumbfounded by the Tulsa and ECU additions. ECU especially. At least Tulsa has good academics and is in a decent sized market.

Once upon a time they were good at football.

Yes, it wasn't that long ago that East Carolina = Coastal Carolina, or Liberty, or Louisiana.
For a few seasons, they were probably the best team in North Carolina. I still think our win over them when they were ranked like 17th is our best win ever.

ECU was invited as a football affiliate not as a full member. They became a full member when the C7 departed.
I have no privileged information, but I think there is a fairly high probability that UAB ends up in the AAC. The one thing that could derail it is if the AAC succeeds in luring schools from the MWC. I don’t expect the AAC to succeed but I do expect them to try.

I dont know what the appeal would be for SDSU, Colorado St, or Boise to move to a conference where they have to travel across the country and will probably be weaker than the current MW. MWC and even the Sun Belt are arguably just as good in football as the AAC minus the three they are losing.

If those schools didn't join when UH, Cincy, and UCF were in the AAC, there is no way in hell they're joining without them.

I don't have privileged information, but I was point-blank told that "Everyone is paddling in the same direction" on this. This is not groundbreaking news, but this is why we were left out last time. Tulane accepted an invite in 2012... we all know what 2012 was like. We wanted to build an OCS to position ourselves... A year later our Ray Watts is president. The rest is history. Today. We have that shiny new thing in uptown, top coaches in all major sports, great facilities on campus with more to come... If not us, who? If not now, when?

RE: AAC Board
If we don't get in this time I won't be as down as I was last time. But if we don't get in I really hope there's further realignment amongst the Belt/MAC/and CUSA. If done right, I'd almost prefer it.
I'm glad we have Ingram, Clark, and AK right now.

I have not been pimping UAB or been anti-AAC for most of my posting on their board (except I told AttackCoog after his continuous anti UAB comments that I hope we never step foot in the f'ing conference).
Most of the AAC posters are not interested in what UAB or any other CUSA team has to offer and blah blah blah. They're pissed that they're losing three of their best programs with no viable options to replace them with.
So if you're expecting them to have open arms for UAB possibly joining you ain't gonna get it. I would say tread lightly if you post on their board but...........well just sayin'.
Don’t really care what they think.
To be honest, I just want them back on the schedule in football. With middle school level facilities, we went 31-39 against TCU, ECU, Tulane, USF, Cincy, Houston, and Memphis…I just want the chance for us to take them behind the woodshed.

RE: AAC Board
So, IF UAB goes to the AAC, do we wave a Power 6 flag? I made fun of Tulane a few years ago for doing that. Wonder if our opinion of Power 6 changes????

Mine hasn’t. I will not be waving a Power 6 flag.

If the AAC wasn't a P6 before they definitely won't be now.

Hey- here’s something else: if UAB goes to the AAC that would open the door for an invite to the Birmingham Bowl. Lol

Well not that UAB is officially in the AAC but just as a side note, there is nothing stopping the MWC from checking the interest of SMU, Tulsa, and Memphis joining their conference. Stuff that I thought was farfetched doesn't seem to be that way anymore. If the MWC is interesting in completely destroying the AAC this would be the way to do it.
And with the AAC TV deal about to take it to the groin, MWC schools get somewhere around 3.5 mil per school right now through 2026. That will probably be more than what the AAC schools get after UCF, UC, and UH leaves. Maybe adding these three schools could give the MWC a nice boost for their next TV deal.
Just throwing it out there.

At least the AAC has Aresco at the helm. If Judy was their commissioner the league would probably fold.

That's kind of you to say. We've had some hellacious games with the Pirates.
