Hmmm, I can’t complain about a 35-15 win. But, I was not that impressed.
Is Hutchinson supposed to be the preferred quarterback or is Bryant?

Lackluster. Why did the game last longer than a MLB game with 10 pitching changes? Just not a very crisp effort .

I have the same thought as everyone else....kinda ehh. Very bland game, we did run the ball well which was nice to see. The D played pretty well, kind of a typically bend don't break EMU defensive game. I'm hoping part of it was keeping things close to the vest playing a D-1 AA (or whatever it is these days) team.
As far as Ramy's question on the preferred QB, I think they are still trying to figure that out. I can't say I was overly impressed with either tonight (although we didn't throw the ball a ton), but overall I'd have to give the slight nod to Bryant.

Knue did not dress and his arm was in a sling. That may explain why he was not on the depth chart. Also notice beydoun left the game with some type of injury. Too bad next week is not a bye week.

RE: GameDay: FB vs. St. Francis (Pa)
2 Things I noticed tonight....
1. CC played this gameplan super vanilla. Constant runs up the middle. Nothing across the middle or deep. Nothing to the T.E.'s. This is likely done to keep things off the tape for Wisconsin. I don't love it as we dont know how this will work when we need it, but we got the win.
2. We played to the competition in the 2nd half. CC should be reaming these dudes out for taking a great 1st half and pissing it away the 2nd. Our O-Line played a good first half and really bad the 2nd. I blame that on leadership and coaching.
Look, I'm happy we won but does anyone feel good after that 2nd half? Also, zero showcase of Beydoun, any other RB not named Boone and Evans, and the QB's looked average.

Eastern's pass protection looked a little soft. St Francis also seemed to play a lot of press coverage, taking away the short passing game that EMU has depended on in recent years. EMU didn't seem too interested in throwing deeper routes so they just stuck with the run game.

Yeah the passing game never seem to develop a rhythm. That concerns me.

No one rushed the field? Why not? Kansas did.

SFU isn't a bad team though. Not much you can do when your qb doesn't have an arm and your DTs are 240#.
Yeah we are gashing them on the ground, but they don’t have the personnel to stop us so it’s hard to tell if we are doing well or not. I like the pressure our front 4 is getting, so that’s a step in the right direction. Not much else to take away from this game though.
Agree and as some posters suggested, C.C. wouldn't run up the score.
C.c. happy with a 3 or 4 TD win.

My Impressions from last night..........
Tailgating with my buddies was great after 2 years of waiting. We were wondering why the parking lot attendants were funneling the cars half-way around the lot until by game time the lot was almost full. Students were having a great time in the parking lot, but would they come in for the game? It seems that most did. Missed seeing player's parents tailgating by us, it seems they are all now in Convo. lot. The stadium looked great, the concession lines were past the press box elevator, didn't use my food coupons but settled for hot chocolate from Coffee truck. Saw new beer booth under the student section stands. Beer 5-7 bucks. Fly over (2 of them) were great! Eagle landed as expected and didn't fly out of the stadium like a couple years ago. Was a little concerned after St. Francis got a couple of first downs on us but the D stiffened. Our QBs took a couple nice shots from St. Francis defenders, won't get easier next week. We were content to predictably run between the tackles and only threw downfield a couple times. Not sure why throwing a couple hitches would tip our hand for next week. It was nice to see a running game. Will it transfer over against D-1 opposition? Our Jet sweep was biggest weapon. As others stated, I was a little underwhelmed when all was said and done but maybe we expected too much for opener against unknown opponent - and remembered the horror and near loss against C. Conn. -which took a miracle punt block, and TD return to win, and was content to go home and watch MSU game

Didn’t we beat Mississippi Valley State by like 50 or something a few years ago? I don’t think Creighton is adverse to scoring points, even if it means “running it up” on an inferior opponent. We just weren’t very good in the 2nd half last night.

The second half was rough. Our lines stopped pushing SFU around. But I take a more positive view of the overall performance. EMU was in charge nearly the whole game. Our d-line pushed their O-line around. We created turnovers. We played deep into the roster. And we didn’t need MattyIce Sexton to block a punt.

To that point, as much as I would LOVE in victory next week, even if we are 100% healthy and play flawlessly that still might not be enough. The big ten win streak is awesome, but this one is a different beast then Rutgers/Purdue/Illinois. A night game against Wisconsin in Madison is probably the toughest game we have had since what? Playing at Florida? So if a few guys are out it probably isn't the end of the world, especially if it gets them healthy for the two non-conference games that are must wins in terms of goal of getting to at least six wins.

Agree.
Anyway, we went really deep and did not try to maintain our execution. That is typically called 'garbage time.' It is to be expected.
BTW, Howie played early and from what I was able to see was a part of the OL which was pushing St. Francis around and opening holes up the middle.

Dear Friends,
Agree with the comments already made, and to add a couple. I thought tackling was bad. Our players seemed to have a St. Francis player in their grasp, and then he would break away for more of a gain.
Along those lines, when St. Francis ran or passed to the outside, our pursuit was slow in getting there.
As far as quarterback play is concerned, I thought Hutchinson's throws were more on the money then Bryant's.

I think CC dialed up a game that was as boring as possible to keep guys healthy and to keep the fun stuff off the tape. And he doesnt run up the score on guys.
It was great seeing transfers like evans, stewart and hamilton contributing big time. too bad transfer players are ruining the sport LOL.
I think we're a ground and pound team this year. weve got a fleet of able bodies running backs and a big and deep offensive line. combine that with depth at tight end i see a lot of ball control in our future.
my hope is that we dont get too many injuries in the next couple weeks. I think we're on track for a 3-1 OOC.

RE: GameDay: FB vs. St. Francis (Pa)
A couple things about last night. The home stands had a good crowd and yes the concession stands were backed up no social distancing there. Its seems the game programs are no longer around either. Chick Fil A is gone and the Assembly food stand is closed. So you are left pretty much with hot dogs, brats, popcorn and pizza. Arbor Brewing is gone as well replaced by Bud and Bud products in cans. How much of this was determined by Covid I don't know. No one empties the trash cans, replaces soap and towels during the game either. The visitor side men's rooms still have water leaks and the bowls themselves haven't been cleaned in a while.
While EMU mandates its students to be vaccinated or tested the football restrictions are to highly recommend wearing a mask in the outside area and inside places like the Convo and restrooms. None of this is enforced as in fact almost no one wore masks inside restrooms or in the outdoor area. My wife and I wore our masks the entire game. I don't where we are at not just at EMU but elsewhere in society and sports. I guess we are the point where we just click our ruby slippers and pretend the virus is gone and all is normal. How many folks caught covid at the EMU game I don't know what that answer is. Many entertainment facilities and entertainers have done a couple of things. You want to attend the event there is a mask mandate or prove you are vaccinated. These seems like responsible steps especially if the event is inside (men's basketball?). Several are doing so for outdoor performances. Yeah fireworks are cool and its great to have football back but I think stronger steps need to be taken to insure EMU football is not a super spreader event. Fans health and their children's health is bigger than the game. I'm sure this isn't a popular viewpoint but its the reality of where we are today popular or not. Children who attend our games and can't be vaccinated well.... Yeah I get its about personal responsibility but look around and you can see a large percentage of our population does have any responsibility at all anymore.

Brandon Benson and Aaron Jackson are on crutches. Jarrett Paul Thomas Okukoya and Micheal Smith Jr all spent in time in the medical tent. Number 61 couldn't tell if offense or defense also on crutches. Mark Lee Jr came out and was running the bike. Ryland went out to kick and it looks like he pulled something and Julien kicked off. And Jake Donnellon is on crutches after his injury last night which is huge blow.
And on to Wisconsin.
