Go with those.

That would be Southern Miss.

Quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve ever read on this board. You have no brand, you have no market, you have no academics. Winning a few football games in 1988 and being lucky that Brett Favre played 20 years in the NFL is not a brand. USM was never relevant and before y’all come come on OUR board thumping your chest about the past and beating Tulane in 1977, understand that Tulane is the future of college football, that’s why the AAC chose us and doesn’t even know who you are.

03-lmfao 03-lmfao I give it to you Tulane has beaten Southern Miss the last two times we played. Do the right thing and send your thank you cards to the AAC for given you better TV coverage and a recruiting advantage over us. Don't forget to send one to Coach Fritz. Without those two Tulane is still Tulane.

You lucky Southern Miss Football didn't charge Tulane Tution for all the free schooling we gave you before you joined the American! You're Welcome! 03-lmfao: lmfao:

Was that even English? Go away USM fans, you all are insufferable. It’s like the only people who don’t know USM is worthless is the 2200 people who watch their games. High schools have more of a fan base. Yes Tulane has won the last two meetings and yes Tulane will win the next 20. Our market, our academics, and our athletic history make us more in line with schools from the Big Ten than schools like USM and UAB.

This gets more depressing by the minute. Either we go west or go independent. Try to get into the Big East for BB. This conference has officially become a pile of ****.

I think ESPN will help save the AAC remnants from themselves and try to build a decent conference. They own the conference so they will have a vested interest in getting the right schools and making money after a renegotiated deal.

If you want to get to 10 teams:

Army FB only
Air Force FB only
VCU BB only
Dayton BB only

If you want 12 teams:
Those above plus UAB & ODU/Rice/App State/Buffalo

This would be a very strong conference in FB and BB. Media payout may only dip a million or so with these adds.

Those three didn't come when you're getting 7 mil per school. Now you think they will come making the same as being in the MWC? Asking for a friend's friend.

Unfortunately this. The MWC now has the upper hand in the race for P6. Memphis will spend the next 5-6 years begging to get into the Big XIi and will get in eventually. That leaves the rest of us in a tough situation. Wichita and Tulsa are totally boned and zero chance at a 16 team Big XII. SMU, Tulane, USF, and Memphis have a shot and all will focus their energy on that for the foreseeable future.

Just 1 (UAB), or better yet, Go west and add BSU, SDSU, CSU and AFA.

1st, all of the NY6 teams are not gone.

Has any of them been offered full membership in past & them turn it down? I recall talk of Boise ( who gets extra $2M from ESPN) considering joining before changes. But I have not heard of CSU, AFA, UNLV, etc turning down doubling their tv $.

Agreed it gets harder if all 3 of rumored teams leave, but some combination of AAC/MWC is still best case.

Old Dominion, Southern Miss, Georgia State and Louisiana are definite small timers. Even though they have an occasional decent team. Really there are NO good teams on your list but amongst the best of the worst are UAB, Coastal, App, Marshall. This does NOT mean they would add financial value to the conference, they would not.

If ANY of the teams you mention were accepted into the AAC the ESPN yearly payout would go from 7 million down to 2 to 4 million. It is not a good situation. We could try to bring a few MWC teams into the conference but I suspect all the good MWC teams would decline our invitation. And there are not many good MWC teams to begin with.

Army

Buffalo

The first two (Army, AFA) are the best listed and Buffalo would suffice because of their scholastic merit.

Or the Big 12 just adds two teams and the AAC is spared.

I don't understand any Rice suggestions. I mean, I get the thought process. Great academics in a large market. But if you're trying to keep pace with MWC or even the Sun Belt as the 6th best. Rice isn't going to help you there. Maybe if you were going for an All Academic Conference. Their market also won't matter (look at the butts in the seats). This is now about how many fans you have to buy ESPN+ subscriptions rather than how many people in a large city aren't watching said team.

The Big 12 remnants could add 2 or 4 teams. If they add, they will be:

Ark State
FAU

That actually is a decent looking conference. Assuming Wichita is staying would be ok BB as well. Might even get 4 to 6 mil per school. Would clearly be the #6 conference.
