UT-Martin is up 7-0 and have now intercepted Zappe on his second throw.

Hilltoppers! Do not lose to FCS again!!!

Zappe stares down his receivers. He is asking for another INT.

Not trying to flame but why have a weeknight game if it's only on ESPN+?

Because it’s week 1 and there are big games on during the weeknight. I.e. Ohio State vs Minnesota, Boise vs UCF

Right. But they're on big channels and people will be watching them.

If the WKU game was on ESPN or even CBSSN I'd get it. But if you're not getting any real exposure save it for a Saturday to get more money from the gate.

Seems like WKU gives up a TD to end the half about 80% of the time. 03-banghead

28-14 at the half.

No thread for the FIU game...

They are up on Bishop Sycamore by a score of 28-10 in the 3rd.

Tuned in and watched UT Martin drive down the field for a TD. Figured I was bad luck and turned it right off.

So, WKU's offense is far more potent than the last season. But, it appears, it is not impossible to score on WKU.

WKU's offense is outstanding as expected with the QB and OC from HBU. Smart move.

RE: *** W1: UT-Martin @ WKU ***
Attended my first WKU football game in a few years tonight. My son finally graduated from high school so all my weekends spent with him and his sports through high school during the Fall/Winter are over and I can now get back to being a regular attendee watching my Toppers on the gridiron.

With that said, I saw some things I REALLY LIKED tonight and I also saw some things that concern me. Offense looks like it's going to be a vast improvement. Some kinks to work out but I'm satisfied after seeing tonight's exciting style of play. Defense, especially run defense looked suspect tonight. Part of that may be because UTM had a potent passing offense so we left open the door for some yardage on the ground. Listening to the postgame show on my drive back to Owensboro, I learned that UTM used the portal to pick up several P5 studs. They were athletic but not deep.

Regardless, a blowout win to start the season is always good. Next week against Army will be like night and day though. WKU has beaten Army the last three games against them. Hoping to keep that streak alive.

Feels like year 1 under Bobby P. Probably gonna go 7-5 or 6-6 and most games will be shootouts. Zappe goes 28-35 for 424 yards and 7 TD’s with 1 int.

Interesting the QB for UT-Martin was the main reason for their scores, former Southern Miss QB Keon Howard, good arm and a pretty solid runner, not overly accurate though.
One of the commentators who apparently was familiar with OVC football said he was a huge step up for the Skyhawks. We'll see how they do this year.

If Keon was as good of a QB as he is a person (from what I've been told), he would be an All-American. Consistent accuracy has always been his issue. He would have instances where he was remarkable, but that was not the norm. Keon was the QB that led the remarkable comeback win for Southern Miss a few yrs ago at La Tech. He later transferred to Tulane (after losing the QB battle to Jack Abraham), where he spent 2 yrs and got his degree. I hope he has a great year at UT Martin!

Defense is going to give up plays, but a fair trade off in my book. We all know for the most part, great offenses and QBs win CUSA. We have a chance now with a poised 5th year QB who can throw the ball. After the last 3 years of boring offense football its nice to see offense is back. Reminds me of the Jeff Brothms offense. #8 Sterns, who we also brought with out QB is a little stud. He made a catch last night with 3 guys all over him, he is very impressive..Army will be a good test but I am sure their defense is not feeling great going against our offense, we will see...
