I know this conference and their fans do not respect Boise State at all (The crowd was horrible, just read some of the tweets. Definitely need better sportsmanship.) but I did meet some cool folks here in Orlando to balance it out a bit. Good luck in the Big 12.

Sorry about some rude fans. Boise has a great team. In the first half they were clearly the better team. The second half is a little hard to process. I think it was a combination of heat and humidity taking it's toll and UCF starting to feel confident. Your team should win a lot of games this season. This was a great matchup.

Even if we lost, we would have moved up. Ya know quality losses.

That's right. Another major benefit in the P5.

No. Just...no. The kid had a brain fart. He'll learn from it.

For those who were not up at 1:21 AM today to see how the game ended: (Yes, the MWC Officials.missed Boise's QB being 3-4 yds BEYOND the line of scrimmage when he threw that ball. Why is this still a thing? No need for Conf refs at all).

I watched it live. It didn't matter, assuming y'all could have declined the penalty and kept possession of the INT.

As I said earlier in the thread, You guys, I think... , are going to need to get used to not running up the score on people. You are going to win a lot of games, but you will be winning them by 2-3 scores max. That is my observation of Gus' style of coaching.
I could be wrong.

That was Gus's first game calling plays in a few years but I think he finally learned something toward late in the 2nd Q that Dillon Gabriel is much more in rhythm when he doesn't substitute and Gabriel is able to go fast.

UCF may not out-muscle or even out athlete some teams like Boise but if they can go fast.
defenses then can't substitute and then they start to make mistakes/get tired.

Don't see Gus ever going Huepel speed but less rotations on certain drives will help make UCF's.Offense more successful.

I'm talking about what I've seen of him while he was at Arkansas State, and then Auburn. Last night I was thinking as y'all got the ball back down 1 with 8:00+/- to go in the fourth... "this is the kinda thing where UCF would normally try and score immediately, get a stop, score again, get a stop, score again... And it always works for them. But Gus is gonna try and make this last drive last the whole 8 minutes with little dink and dunk passes and a steady diet of Bowser. Kick a field goal to win by 2 with 4 seconds left." I was wrong... but I still feel he is closer to that than what y'all are used to.

Different styles for sure. I think the rest of this season will be a mix of the old/new with the strengths of the current starters being the focus. As more of CGM's players come into the program, it makes sense the team will look more like his typical team.

He's 22 years old. He has always had atrocious pocket awareness, he literally runs into an oncoming rush instead of stepping up into the pocket, look at the last play of the game as an example. He's 22 years old, he is what he is at this point.

Doesn't matter, UCF would've just declined the penalty.

If we can get 2nd and 3rd stringers playing time while keeping our starters healthier then it might not be such a bad thing. We'll see.
