The reason UMass and El Cid are included is because it's been kind of a tradition in the CoastalFans Pick 'Em to keep up with all of Coastal's non-conference opponents throughout the season. I will definitely consider making some changes to that tradition for next season, though (or this season if the majority of people really feel passionately about dropping them now).

However you guys like it is fine with me, but I do in general like the "bonus" games. This UMass game should be fun this particular week... Did you realize that the last time UConn won a game it was in 2019 against UMass, a 10-game losing streak. On the other hand, UMass also hasn't won a game since 2019, on a 16 game losing streak!

This week was rough for a lot of folks. There were three games - South Alabama @ Texas State, UConn @ UMass, and Buffalo @ Kent State - that more than half the field got wrong, and a fourth (Georgia Southern @ Troy) that was pretty close. Yet again we did not have anyone perfect on the week, but I'll give a quick shout-out to YOLO1 for being the closest to perfection, only missing by incorrectly picking Texas to beat Oklahoma.

Biggest rise of the week belongs to AppinSC, who rose 4 spots from 6th into a tie for 2nd. Biggest fall of the week was bodoyle, who fell 3 spots from 13th into a tie for 16th.

You know, I don't think anyone will be too sad about missing that pick this week since ULM beat Liberty. If there's one thing I think most Sun Belt fans can agree on, it's gotta be that it's always good to see Liberty lose a game. Congrats to the Warhawks on that win!

Perfection is elusive.

As I was going through the standings this week, it occurred to me that this is probably the longest amount of time we have gone without someone having a perfect week in the Pick 'Em. In fact, cotw and Puddle Pirate are the only two players that have been perfect this season, and that was all the way back in Week 1.

Meathead, I was really rooting for you to have a perfect week this week. In fact, I looked at the Citadel/WCU result last because I was sure Citadel would have beaten the winless Catamounts. Unfortunately, El Cid found a way to ruin it for you (and for pretty much all of the rest of us), and we are once again without a Perfect Prognosticator.

What a banner week it has been for the Sun Belt!

Unless you've been on a hiking trip with no cell reception for the past 10 days, you are now well aware that we have welcomed some new members to the Sun Belt Conference this week - Southern Mississippi, Old Dominion, and Marshall - and are expecting to most likely welcome a fourth (James Madison from the FCS) very soon. With that in mind, we're going to change up our Bonus games this week to include each of these teams, for a total of six bonus points up for grabs!

As for the games in Week 09, we are yet again without a Perfect Prognosticator as Buffalo fumbled the bag against Bowling Green - all but two players chose Buffalo to win that game. Several people are tied for biggest rise/biggest fall this week. We do, however, have a clearly defined Top 3 - congrats to cotw, Benski6, and AppinSC for locking down the top three spots atop the mountain of Pick 'Em excellence! Don't get complacent, though...the season is far from over!

In probably one of the more impressive Pick 'Em performances we've ever had, cotw remains in first place, having never left the top spot this season. Apparently, there were a lot of upsets in Week 11. At least, that's what it looks like when you look at the picks from last week's Pick 'Em. A whole lotta red on the sheet this week. And still, cotw clings onto his 3 point lead over second place. That said, a familiar face and former Pick 'Em champion - chantchant - is slowly making his way up the leaderboard. Could chantchant become the second person to win the Pick 'Em crown in two separate years? Only time will tell!

SIKE! With there not really being any super compelling Top 25 games this week, I went back on my previous decision and have decided to bring the Jayhawks and the Minutemen back to the Bonus games for one last hurrah this week. You can thank Kansas' win over Texas for making me change my mind on them. As for the Minutemen...well, I just felt a little sorry for them after seeing them lose two FCS games in a row, so I figured I'd throw them a bone!

PERFECTION ALERT!

That's right, folks! After many weeks of no one having a perfect week in our Pick 'Em, in Week 12 we had not one but TWO players achieve perfection. First, allow me to pat myself on the back a little bit, because yours truly was one of the two players to go perfect in week 12. As wrestling legend and one-time Coastal Carolina basketball player Diamond Dallas Page would say, "self high five!"

Our next player used their perfect week to jump in the standings into a tie for first place with cotw! Congrats, AppinSC! This is what I mean when I tell you that anything can happen in the Sun Belt Pick 'Em. One good week is all it takes to move up the rankings!

Several folks (myself, cougaraid, and AppSt94) tied for Biggest Rise this week. For the second week in a row, Biggest Fall belongs to Saint333, who fell 9 more spots to 23rd after failing to submit picks in Week 12. That's a total of 16 spots in two weeks - probably the largest fall from grace we've seen in the Pick 'Em in quite some time!

Well, isn't this an interesting turn of events! Back in Week 12, I mentioned that a former Pick 'Em champion - chantchant - was slowly making his way up the leaderboard. Two weeks later, he's vaulted himself up into a THREE WAY TIE for first place! It looks like the 2021 Sun Belt Pick 'Em is going to go right down to the wire. Who's gonna take home the crown?
