UAB men's basketball transfers out - where they are now
We lost seven players who transferred out from last year's team. Their info is below for those who want to follow them:

Jalen Benjamin is at Mount St. Mary's. He has started 3 games, averaging 25 minutes, 11 points and 5 rebounds a game, and shooting 43.8% from three-point range.

Kassim Nicholson is playing at Tennessee State. He is averaging 5.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in 30 minutes a game.

Koby Jeffries is a starter at Tennessee-Martin, where he is averaging 30 minutes, 4.5 points and 5.0 rebounds.

Simeon Kirkland is at New Orleans. He has averaged 16 minutes in the first two games, scoring 7.0 ppg and pulling down 2 rpg.

Tobias Rotegaard is at Long Beach State. He has played in two games, a total of 7 minutes, and has two points.

Terrell Ard, Jr. plays for Presbyterian. In three games, he has played a total of 24 minutes, has 4 rebounds, but it 0-7 from the field.

Tyreek Scott-Grayson transferred to Northeastern, but he has not played through the first three games. Not sure what is up there--he is still on their roster.

From players still around who transferred out two years ago:

Tamell Pearson plays at Western Illinois, averaging 23 minutes, 7 ppg and 4 rpg. (Western Ill. did beat Nebraska last week.)

Luis Hurtado is at Bryant, where he averages 22 minutes, 4.3 ppg, 7.7 rpg, and 4.0 apg--against some pretty good competition, including Clemson and Rhode Island.

Wasn't able to find Jordan Brinson, Makhtar Gueye, Jude Akabueze and Joshua Sippial on anyone's roster right now. Brinson played last year for Utah Valley State and Jude was at Jones juco in Mississippi. Sippial went to Florida Gulf Coast, but was cut, then was supposed to be heading to Detroit Mercy to play for Mike Davis (and Donnie Marsh, who was at FGC), but he's not on the Detroit roster. I don't think Mak ever landed, though he had originally announced a transfer to Towson State.

(Another transfer from a couple of years back: Nate Darling, who went to Delaware, is now with Agua Caliente in the NBA D-League. He scored 11 points in his team's win yesterday over Stockton. He is still the property of the Charlotte Hornets, for whom he played in seven games last year.)

Kind of goes to show the talent level wasnt great during Ehsans tenure. Brinson is at Salt Lake Community College, btw.

I watched a Northeastern game the other day and TSG had right arm in a sling.

TSG is the only one on that list that I would still take. The talent level really took a nosedive during most of Ehsan's tenure.

Sippial has been at all the home games this year (in the stands) so i would assume he is going to school at UAB now

I do miss TSG, and the perceived potential in Jalen that just didn't seem to hit, but I wouldn't trade them back for the team we have now

Benjamin seemed to be a headcase. He was an absolute dumpster fire on defense, and was tiny. He basically single handedly lost one of the games for us at La Tech last year.

Looks like Jude was at a Mississippi JUCO last year and Gueye is playing professional in Spain.

TSG was who I wanted to return. Was improving year by year. Wouldn’t have minded Kassim coming back. Knew the benefit of his rebounding was too much to lose.

Interesting. Mount St. Mary's is just up the road from me. I enjoy going to their games once in a while.

Well, he started out with a G-League roster, but yeah, it cratered after that.

Kassim would have really helped rebounding on this year's team. he was pretty tenacious on the boards.

I would've liked to keep Nicholson, as well, for the reasons every one else has said. TSG would've been good to keep too, but he probably would've been at the end of the rotation. My guess is he didn't want to stick around in the latter years of his eligibility to ride the bench.

AK upgraded at every position with a more talented player, spot for spot. No question about that.. Enjoyed watching them all play and glad all seemed to have had a good experience in Birmingham. TSG and Kassim were good Blazers especially. I'm sure they would have gotten some PT if they had stayed, but I think every player landed at a better fit for them, which is how it's supposed to work.
