That's correct. I'm so excited about football opening with a win at Arkansas that I put down the wrong date.

Ugh. Same time as volleyball vs. LSU at Tudor.

RE: 2021 Cross Country
Just a reminder of today's races on the intramural fields north of the Shepherd School.

Women (approximately 4K) -6:15 p.m.

Men (approximately 4 miles) - 6:45 p.m.

I realize that this is at the same time as volleyball, but it is the ONLY time Rice will race at home all season.

As I stated before, both teams are strong, and this looks like Jon Warren's best men's team in over a decade.

This is a low key meet, but important to have a race before the big one at Texas A&M on September 25.

Teams competing:

Concordia (M/W)
Houston (M/W)
Houston Baptist (M/W)
Lamar (M/W)
Louisiana (M/W)
Prairie View (M/W)
Rice (M/W)
Sam Houston (M/W)
St. Thomas (M/W)
Stephen F. Austin (M/W)
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (M/W)
Texas Southern (M/W)

Some key runners for Rice:

Women

Grace Forbes (need I say more?)
Taigen Hunter-Galvan

I have zero idea if any of these freshmen will race (Ellie Schweiker, Maggie Forbes, Darcey Lonsdale, Ava White)

Men

Hociel Landa
Alex Topini
Andrew Abikhaled
Ace Castillo
Travis Dowd

And was in 1st gear almost the entire way. She's just so much better than anyone, it really isn't fair. Texas A&M in 2 weeks will be the first real test.

Did the women rest anyone tonight or is A&M CC just an equal to slightly better team (realizing that only two points separated us)?

Yes, we did not operate at full strength. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has a solid squad, but I think that by the time the regionals roll around in late October, you'll see Rice ahead of the Islanders.
