"Toledo coach Jason Candle announces that fourth-year sophomore Carter Bradley will start at quarterback against Norfolk State on Saturday.

Bradley, the son of long-time NFL defensive coordinator and former Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley, was a recruiting coup for UT in 2018."

Interesting note: on depth chart transfer Judge Culpepper is starter at DT. Between Bradley and Culpepper, the Rockets have a strong NFL connection

Unsurprising, although I had started to wonder, as it seemed every hype video they released from camp showed Finn and Gleason throwing often, and almost nothing showing Bradley.

The team is veteran but there are a lot of young guys on the depth chart. I counted 11 redshirt freshmen and 4 true freshmen. The only true freshman starter is Quinyon Mitchell at CB.

Where is the depth chart?

Mitchell isn't a true freshman, he's a COVID freshman, as he played in every game last year. the players marked as redshirt freshmen, redshirted in 2019. So, basically, you have to add a year to each player if you want to judge how young the team is.

Those true FR listed played quite a bit last year. Keep in mind that 2020 was basically a freebie for everyone. RS FR are really 3rd year guys.

Happy for Carter. This is a nice opportunity with a solid O-Line and lots of skill talent around him. I think I saw it as “or” Finn. I would like to see a lot of PT for DF.

Western was Toledo’s equal opponent last year. Thankfully their best wide-out was drafted. He was really tough. BSU is solid, but Toledo wasted too many opportunities. CMU had at least 3 picks last year, which is why the game was close. Toledo just needs to play cleaner and finish. I am sure that time helped CB. Some pics will happen, but it must be less. Toledo needs to win the TO battle. [/u]

I hope Toledo will bury these teams early, and not let them back in the game.

Hmm, yeah I missed that the 1st time. Don't know. It would put a dent in the UT secondary if he is out for a while. Hope he doesn't have a bad injury as he has been getting a lot of press as a potential draftee because of his speed and jumping ability.

I’m hoping to see multiple QBs in this first game. I know it’s important for our starter to get into a routine but also as important to get the other QBs some playing time. The last thing we need is to depend on someone with no experience.

I would say that alot of QB playing time will depend on the Rocket Defense.

This game has to be a no-contest right from the start for both sides of the ball. With our depth, the extra time for the new staff to impact this team, the maturity/experience of our team and this opponent should lead to an easy uncontested game for our Rockets. Then it is on to South Bend and an opportunity to get back on the right track to a MACC season. Go Rockets!

Can't be putting the Offense in 3rd and long situations.
Penalties, allowing sacks, etc. gotta stop.
