And a reminder to take these with. Again of salt. The actual lineup often does vary from what was listed on the week's depth chart.

Yep. For game #2 it will look more like those who ended up playing most at the end of Game #1.

This might be true even if a 2-deep player sat out Game #1 for whatever reason.

Hamilton as number two RB is a big deal. we platoon RB and he'll get some touches.

Agree. Need a 1a and 1b RB. We have a good 1a and b punch.

Thought I was going to say a 1 2 punch?

Hope Evans still gets some carries. He runs hard (like Ian Eriksen did) and IMO deserves some playing time.

I'm positive Evans will get a decent amount of reps. I'm expecting a stronger rushing attack this year which leads to more carries to share.

As long as,all of them don't fumble the ball away. Evans Bess and Mackey had some costly fumbles, last year. Don't forget we have Moss Bess and Smith as well.

Agree. Those fumbles cost us a win over CMU.

RB is one of those positions that a 4-deep depth chart is necessary.

I saw that Mackey is now on the Wayne State roster.

Not a bad move for him. He has I assume he has 2 seasons of eligibility left.

D-II is D-II but Wayne State has a very nice field (saw it on TV last week for high school games) and nice facilities.

WSU is light years from where it was when I was an undergrad there decades ago. Their on campus housing it pretty nice. Some very nice new stuff.

EDIT: Here is a video of their stadium. Three comments:

https://youtu.be/tY1qraV_Tzs

1). Their FieldTurf (GREEN) around their track looks very good. The track almost gets lost in the see of green.

This is where I get the notion that making the track a good neutral color choice helps camouflage the track.

2). For visual appeal, the away stands need to be improved, even if enlarged to hold say 1K fans.

3). Their locker room and meeting rooms are... well, not good.

I’m not surprised to see L Fordham at #2 WR

I saw him play in the state championship game a couple seasons ago, and he was a man against boys. At 6’4” he has the height but does he have the speed?

The kid bypassed a lot of returning players. He must be pretty good.

I agree on Evans, and then after those three I really like what Bess showed last year. I don't think he'll ever be a featured type back, but he offers a great change of pace compared to guys like Boone and Evans. Running behind the line we have, and factoring in Hutchinson's ability to run...it should be a really dynamic run game!

That is my point on the COVID thing and it adding a layer of intrigue. Did he actually bypass guys like Knue and Dennis Smith or are the unavailable this week for COVID reasons? As you said it could be an injury but usually we hear something like "so and so is out for 6 weeks with leg injury."

My hope is he DID beat them out since those are some good players and a great sign for the talent level on the team.

Where do we hear about EMU injuries?

Information which is usually obtained by the media is a black hole for EMU.

I meant just sports in general, but yeah EMU there usually isn't a lot of info out there. Usually its someone on here that has some info, or the announcers during a game will sometime say something about an injury.

Could be that CC is holding back some players for the Wisconsin game or doesn't want to tip his hand. He did say in his taped interview this week that the team had some frustrating injuries at the beginning of fall camp.

This is why this board thrives because it fills a need.

I'm not on any board for the Tigers, Lions or Wizards. I have no trouble finding info on them through regular media.

I can’t remember a time where we got regular injury information pre-game, in either sport. Remember when we didn’t know Mike Glass was missing the WMU game until like 5 minutes before kick off? Unless we see something happen during the games, we won’t know anything.

It’s one of the more frustrating aspects of following mid major sports. We had a decent reporter once upon a time (his name escapes me, but I believe he worked for MLive), but until that happens again, we will continue to be in the dark on that front.

One would think with legalized sports gambling the NCAA would push schools to publish that information in a more uniform manner
