Just read his wife passed away after 69 years of marriage. Great college basketball coach and great guy, lives here in Va. Beach.

That is very sad. They've been Married 69 years. Joyce was a behind the scenes wife.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it might be about his demise.

I thought the same thing too, but just as sad to hear his wife passed. He called her the best recruit he ever had!
I had a chance to see him 2 years ago at a VA sports symposium and took a picture that I thought was a bookend picture for me. I had a similar picture from when I first met him 33 years ago and worked on his Weekly coach’s show.

He was in a wheelchair then and I was wondering if he would ever get back to JMU again. Probably not considering his circumstances and the current ongoing pandemic.
