Damn somebody should have told John McCain how bad this was, because he visited multiple times.

I’m sure when it was built many decades ago, it was more of a celebration of the capture than anything else. Not so much anymore.

McCain did a lot to normalize relations with Vietnam in the last few decades. I doubt people in Vietnam are laughing because they brought flowers and wreaths when he died 3 years ago. They think of him as a friend now.

It’s actually a pretty cool story and a testament to the kind man John McCain was.
