There are eight FBS/FCS football games this weekend, the season is finally here.

Eastern Illinois at Indiana State will feature former Huskie Mark Aitken starting at safety for EIU and former Huskie Anthony Thompson starting at QB for ISU. You have to be happy for Thompson, he's waited six years for this opportunity.

Former Huskie Cam Mattox not on the two deep for EIU.

Didn't know that about Thompson. Too bad he'll be gone (I assume) when we play next season.

Why are MAC teams playing weekday Thursday football to start off the season? Is the MAC going to be forced by ESPN to end up play our entire football seasons during weekdays at some point? Bad enough our 1/3 of our schedule is on weekdays.

Frankly, that makes no sense to me. Illinois beat them last year 41-23……in Lincoln.

Personally...I dunno. U of I is going to run the ball down Nebraska's throat, but maybe Frosty gets his guys going.

This is a classic game for me to stay away from, thank goodness I'm in Illinois otherwise I am sure I would bet...probably on Nebraska.

Huskers turned the ball over 5 times last year. Illness have a new system to work out, so hopefully we can witness a Husker win this time.
