Gus Malzahn era off to a hot start!

I don't know much about this Boise team, but UCF is looking super soft on the D-Line.

Boise will probably come back.

The bottom half of the AAC conference is dreadful. Please save us Obi-Wan-Kebolwsby...

Tulsa loses to UC Davis after being a 23.5 pt favorite. ESPN box score shows attendance at just over 15k. Great showing for the conference runner up.

I know the school is in the middle of nowhere, and they were not a legitimate option at the time our conference was founded, but we picked the wrong North Carolina team.

They're probably not even the SECOND best option in the Carolinas at this point. I could see the AAC just asking Coastal and App State or Georgia State to replace UC/UCF in the East

The only reason they were added was because they had 40-45K in attendance- the thought was they had a big fan base. On the field they were bad to mediocre in the early 2000s. They were decent in 2012 and again in 2013 under Ruffin McNeil. They got added after the Big East completely blew up (not the original defections of Pitt, Syracuse and WVU but the second wave of Rutgers and Louisville).

If you look at their TV ratings they have averaged 1.2M viewers a season for the past 3 years. They might be able to get 40K to show up to their games, they just have a very weak brand overall outside their loyal base.

Bolded, it was a reasonable choice at the time given the desire to be in that Carolina market. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disaster in both football and basketball. Hopefully, it's not our problem much longer.

UCF and BS University were evenly matched.

Whether they both are good or bad remains to be seen.

I'm glad that it appears the powers that be understand that Alumni and Student Population have more to do with fan base potential than when the only interested people end up being 45,000 in an isolated area that go to the games.

It was the only choice at the time. East Carolina came into the AAC the first year that App State was in the FBS and Coastal did not become an FBS team until 2017.

We would have probably flipped out if App State joined the AAC as a new FBS school, but given their successful history they might have had the potential to still reach their current level of success here.

UCF had like 600 total yards (including 250 rushing) and held Boise to half that. Bsu had like -4 yards total in the 3rd quarter lol. Boise capitalized on those picks, a shanked punt, and weak tackling that led to a broken play but really UCF did whatever they wanted after they settled down after the 1st quarter. Considering they have a new coach and system, I thought it went pretty well for them. They look way more balanced now
