Dodd saying Luke #1 candidate due to past relationship with Bohn.

Idk, seems like Mario Cristobal might be the guy or perhaps Matt Campbell. Cristobal checks a lot of boxes- plays a physical style, has some experience recruiting the coast, Latino, just beat Ohio State and his wife is a smoke-show.

We want to think it's a long shot at best but you never know what can change someone's mind. What is certain is Bohn will make the call to Fick. Is a bigger threat if James Franklin would get the USC job? Penn State would seem a better match than Southern California. All I know is we're used to the losing coaches rumors around here, and in most recent cases, coaches actually leaving for bigger programs.

I don't fault anyone for getting more money, but if I was Fick I would give a quick "Thanks but no thanks". He has a legit shot at the playoffs, and a couple of big games coming up. No need for distractions. Unless they were offering $10 mil/year.

Any chance Marcus Freeman gets a look from Mike Bohn?

There is going to be a stampede to the portal after this season at USC. CLF is not moving his whole family and heading 3 timezones away to a place he has no connections to tackle another rebuild. This one replete with unreasonable expectations from fans and donors.

Heck, Bohn might not be there himself in 2 years.

Amy will veto PSU for the same reason as she vetoed MSU. There is one tiny Catholic School. I repeat OSU or ND and he is gone. Other than that he and Amy have a 10 year plan.

I'm not concerned either.

CLF is a already a multi-millionaire and UC can increase his salary with the Big12 move if he just wants more money. He's put in too much work to give up on the program.

I hope Day turns O$U around so they don't fire him, because CLF will take the O$U job.

Hope he comes out this week and kills the rumors.

I would think the USC fanbase would riot.

Here is the resume of every USC head coach since the 80s:

Helton - internal promotion, 7 years on USC staff under Kiffin and Sarkisian
Sarkisian - very successful HC at Washington for 5 years, former USC OC
Kiffin - former NFL head coach
Carroll - former NFL head coach
Hackett - former NFL head coach
Robinson - former NFL head coach
Smith - very successful HC at Arizona for 7 years

RE: 2021 CFB Coaching Carousel
SoCal is an awful place to raise kids. It's not the 80s anymore when it was the best place in the world to raise a family.

When I was out there (a couple years ago), I got a new boss who moved in from Texas. Extremely well paid, the cost of living didn't matter at all to him. He told me that his biggest problem was that his high school-aged kids were having trouble finding friends at their (very nice) school who didn't do drugs.

Fickell is not going to pick up and leave everything he's built here, jerk his kids away from their lives and moved to crap hole LA to coach USC.

If USC was such a plum job then why could they only get Clay Helton until now?

This thread is going predictably. All we need now is Doss to chime in with a list of the Catholic schools in a 10-mile radius of USC.

Edit: Just read up the thread. Doss, you're like a ******* clock my friend.

A bit misleading. Dodd is speculating that Fickell would have to (hypothetically) be the top candidate. Based on......his opinion.

There are no rumors. Zero.

This is the correct response.

I have no doubt LA has lots of good Catholic Schools. Mater Dei is 35 miles from USC.

Mick left. So can Luke. I’d be disappointed, but it’s not the end of the world.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I hope UC gives Fickell a salary bump so a change of scenery would have to be substantially lucrative.

Fickell would take the Moeller job before USC. Zero concern.

Mick was actively looking. Mick was divorced and custody of one daughter. Mick's act had grown stale.

My only concern is that of course this crap comes out while trying to focus on playing IU.

Mo way CLF can allow this sit out there all season.
