Very happy and I'd like to think I played a small part by submitting a thousand requests for them to add the channel since ACCN debuted, ha ha.

In previous communications for channel negotiations, Cincinnati Bell has said they they are part of "700+ mid-sized and smaller cable operators — is part of a buying group". I don't know if it means all of them now can offer ACCN, but I was alerted on 8/23 that it's available on September 1st. I called today and had a sports package added to my plan that increases the bill $6 a month and includes ACCN along with NFL Network. Happy I can now view all ACCN games without extra effort such as visits to sports bars, YouTubeTV free-preview weeks via newly created email addresses, etc.

JR's recent information about $1 in-state/$0.50 out-of-state for the ACCN really changes the calculus here... the ACC doesn't need a team in Ohio, it just needs the local cable company to carry the channel for $0.50 per sub... same for Michigan, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, etc. Getting half a dollar when most channels only get a quarter out of state is huge!

I assume that's because of the ND football game on ACCN every year.

RE: Comcast
Anyone want to hazard a guess on the ACC’s revenues from its network once we get Comcast and the others on board? I think the estimates had been around $10 million per year per school. Could it be $20 million a year per school? I’m sure it won’t completely close the gap between us and the B1G and SEC but it should help.

ESPN takes half. It's more like 8 million per year per team.

Agreed, although I could see it getting above $10M per team.

That $0.50 each outside of footprint is genius, tbh. ESPN has over 70 million subscribers, each of which will, apparently, get ACCN going forward. 70M * $0.50/mo = $35M/mo X 12 months = $420M/year. That's $210M for ESPN, $210M for the ACC. Divide by 16 shares: $210M/16 = $13M/school.

Since about 1/3 of those will be "in-footprint", add 1/3 to make it $17.5M/school. That is probably the upper limit for ACCN revenue.

RE: Comcast
No news on Comcast yet but ACCN is now available on Frontier. I think that was the second largest cable carrier without ACCN although way behind Comcast.

Comcast customers who want ACCN are starting to have more and more options... how much longer can you hold out, Comcast?

Resistance is futile!

I am getting ready to switch to Dish because Xfinity does not have the ACC network. Of course the VT game is on the ACC network this year.

RE: Comcast
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nexttv....re-analyst

The long-term agreement that has Comcast carrying programming from the Walt Disney Co. that was reached in 2012 is expiring Thursday, according to analysts Craig Moffett and Michael Nathanson of MoffettNathanson Research.

Unlike situations between YouTube and NBCUniversal and Comcast and MSG Networks whose deals expire Thursday, neither Comcast nor Disney have started to warn viewers of a blackout.

“Every indication is that the two are on good terms,” the analysts said in a report Thursday morning. “If they don’t announce by midnight tonight, no matter. A short--or even not so short--extension to buy more time would be inconsequential.”

While there are many issues between the two companies, the one that rises to the top for the analysis is the future of Hulu. Comcast still owns 33% of Hulu and Disney is obligated to buy out Comcast by 2024.

But with Comcast trying to build up Peacock with NBCU programming currently committed to Hulu there are incentives to unwind that stake sooner rather than later for Comcast. (Some have argued that the dispute between NBCU and YouTube could benefit Hulu, rasing its value for Comcast.)

And if Disney does buy out Comcast, the analysts wonder what Comcast would do with the influx of cash.

“To be clear, there is no indication that Disney and Comcast will use this programming renewal as an opportunity to settle the Hulu stake preemptively. Our analysis is therefor occasioned by what is almost certainly wishful thinking,” the analysts caveated.

If Comcast keeps stalling, those affected can sign up for the one month Sling TV promo (just $10, plus $10 more for the Sports package) in time to see Notre Dame @ VT...

Click here for the Sling Football Deal!

(BTW, I do NOT get any money for this - I'm just recommending Sling to Comcast customers)
