Say what you want about locks, but I don't understand why he would wait so long if he wasn't truly conflicted about where he was ending up. I'm not saying he doesn't end up at Memphis, just that it's probably not as much a lock as everyone says it is.

G league offers full scholarship when his playing days are over. Allegedly.

Less about education. More about maximizing his brand, developing in a good environment, and making some NIL $.

I havent commented on Bates, but if you have looked at his "history" his family have made every decision up to this point based on dollars, even when it hurt his overall brand and development. His development took a hit this past year with the stupid school thing and then his ridiculous AAU team. Once again, they went for the dollars and not what was best for Bates overall. I dont expect that to change. Whomever offers the family the most dollar bills is going to have Bates.

I'm starting to "move on" from Bates and prepare for the team with its current roster.

At some point, the delay becomes absurd.

If we get him and he plays for two years, can we start calling him Re-Bates?

of course it matters when classes begin. Otherwise, there wouldn't be a start and end date. I don't work for the administration department, but at some date he is not eligible to register.

Unless he can get a University of Memphis presidential exception.
