Get vaccinated.

Herd immunity doesn't work with this virus. It mutates far too quickly.

Furthermore, herd immunity doesn't work when the majority of the herd -- the world's population outside of the US and a few other developed countries -- isn't likely to be vaccinated for years, if ever.

Yea, I'm all for personal choice and responsibility but I got my first shot in April and second in may, get vaccinated, it's not a conspiracy.

Little bit of a misconception going on with herd immunity: it doesn't mean everyone has caught it and now has natural antibodies to it. Vaccines have always played a major part in it (well since the days of inoculation up through the actual vaccines of today). Much safer as well, especially considering the mutations you brought up.

Hard to get herd immunity with a virus which will live in animals of most kinds.

It’s the new influenza, and will probably be one of those bugs where vaccines and boosters will become an annual thing for folks due to mutation and resistance. And the vaccines will not solve the virus and eliminate it from existence, but will support the improved defense and decreased impact on the bodies of those who’s systems won’t be able to fully fight it off.

It should become more real to us now that variants can take down different populations the initial dominant strain seemed to spare. When the young and otherwise healthy can now be crushed by this, no, it’s still just as real as it was last year…but less and less are really “safe” from this thing.

For example:

Older woman, and two younger sons, living in the same house. Mom was vaccinated, sons refused. Mom had a mild case, sons both died.

While the school did not release an official cause of death, his fiancée, Erika Alexander, said on Facebook that Peacock had tested positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 14, with doctors expressing concern about low oxygen levels the following day.

RE: Western Carolina assistant football coach dies of Covid
As a cancer survivor it took two years to get my blood work to the point that my oncologist would say my immune system is normal. The new study says vaccinated people who get Covid have less of the virus in their nose, they don't spread it as effectively as the vaccinated but can spread it and they tend to go to zero virus measured faster in the nose.

All bets are off for someone whose immune system is damaged.

Prayers for his family.
