The wings added by the scoreboard (to my understanding) are intended to expand the student section. Those new sections are labelled as standing room only - built similarly to "The Wall" at Orlando City Soccer's stadium. This will likely also free up other sections previously used by students to sell in General admission while not decreasing the student section seating capacity.

I think those student sections are replacing seats that will become club seats as part of the new Launch Club area.

Terry promised increased student capacity. We have the largest student body and we should have one of the largest student sections. The demand for student tickets has been insane. They might relocate the current student section but the capacity will not be impacted by the Launch Club.

Terry estimated 1400-1500 more seats without a final blueprint right now.

So... 45,606-45,706 total capacity.

A $50 million upgrade isn't enough to get that football stadium anywhere close to "Alabama, Michigan, Florida, etc."

His upgrade statement was meant that the campus itself would be on par with those schools. Meaning; the relocation of the coaches offices free up space in the football ops would make more room for player only needs and "recovery" river. In totality it means that football players would have essentially everything; academic support/tutoring, practice/weight rooms, nutrition/food, locker rooms, dorms and relaxation, as well as access to coaches in a few hundred meter radius.

I presume you mean behind the Venue, the old Arena. That's an existing parking garage.

Hmm, interesting catch. I can't see the need for a new track facility, but I guess it's possible.

he says in this press conference that they are looking to create a soccer only facility and move track and field.

It's quite possible that the plans were announced publicly sooner than originally planned due to the conference expansion stuff playing out.

But this has been in the works since literally the first few days Terry Mohajir arrived as the new AD and saw that the facilities were not at the level he thought they would be.

With Gus Malzahn as the football coach, UCF is hiring a larger football staff (analysts, etc) than we have ever had before. They are "piled on top of each other" in the three decade old building where coaches offices have been since it was first built.

UCF's football locker room and "players lounge" is relatively small and probably behind at least 4 or 5 schools in the AAC. By building the new coaches offices at the end zone of the stadium, you not only give them the space they need, it frees up space in the older building to enlarge the locker room, players lounge, weight room, and training area.

UCF has sold out every premium seating option/upgrade put into the stadium since it was built, so there was clearly a market to convert some more seats to premium seating.

RE: UCF Announces Massive Facilities Upgrade
The only thing I find weird about the plan is the third deck "wings" above the student section for additional student capacity. UCF will be losing seating for season ticket holders (several rows of seating will be removed for the patio just outside the coaches office where the coaches families will sit...and the new loge seating will take up more space, therefore fewer seats overall to sell to season ticket holders). Since UCF is within 800 seats of a sellout of every seat available, some current season ticket holders might get bumped out of seats entirely.

My preference would be to build a third deck along the east sideline opposite from the current pressbox. Enlarge the student sections by giving the students additional sections adjacent to the ones they have already, then use the new third deck as seating for season ticket holders displaced by the new loge seating and expanded student sections.

RE: UCF Announces Massive Facilities Upgrade
I thought UCF addressed the need for more space for students by splitting the student section between the north and south endzones. There is no way that the north endzone student section will be filled (unless they move them all to the north endzone and stop the north/south split) to require overflow seating into the new 3rd level corners on either side of the jumbotron.

I am not sure the student capacity was increased when they split the students between the two end zones. Since the stadium opened, I think the unofficial student capacity has always been 12,000.

When all of the students were in the south end zone, the student sections wrapped a lot further around toward the sidelines.

Then I would think these new sections will accommodate paid seating getting pushed back farther as the student section grows in size.

No...as one of TM's goals when he came to UCF in Feb was to INCREASE Student Seating...because having just 12,000 student seats for a school as large as UCF, he didn't think was fair.

Also, students are the largest "booster group", via their student athletic fee...so if there is a way to increase student seating...all while increasing premium high $$$ club seats which will generate a ton more $$ vs those cheap 2nd level end zone bleacher seats...its a win-win for all.

Or a more powerful AAC if the B12 folds. I doubt it will fold but I don't think anyone here will cry if it does. However I still take the invite and gamble on the future.
