Report: ESPN Signs Agreement with WAC

Based on this headline and the link where it indicates this under the WAC tab, all indications are turning towards the WAC and ESPN consummating a deal

I am guessing this means mostly ESPN+ -- correct?

Bit unfortunate for the NMSU athletic department. Mario has said we need the money more than the exposure.

Yeah, this might limit access to Aggie basketball games on outlets like AZ Bally Sports (Formerly AZ Fox Sports). I assume ESPN+ now owns the TV rights to Aggie Vision games.

RE: Report: ESPN Signs Agreement with WAC
ESPN puts games behind a paywall and inserts their commercials, while WAC schools do all the leg work and get pennies. Seems fair.

RE: Report: ESPN Signs Agreement with WAC
HOpefully we get games on the ESPN networks and the WAC Championship game on ESPN2 like back in the day. I rather see our games on ESPN+ then Fox. Not every network has the old Fox SPorts ARizona channel anymore. I rather pay the $6 a month for ESPN+

Yall made the right choice

As for NMSU basketball on the Arizona RSN, ESPN allows the SoCon and Big sky the right to have games on both Espn+ and local TV so I hope yall get that too

RE: Report: ESPN Signs Agreement with WAC
Just my personal experience but I’d much rather have our games on ESPN+. It’s already part of the cheap Disney/Hulu package and the app is available and easy to find on any device. Any time I’ve had to deal with Fox Sports it’s been a pain in the ass to find the right app or website, then I pay for the subscription only to find out it’s not actually available in my area.

For me it’s all about accessibility for the fans and where the conferences gets the most money. Let’s face it, not many fans outside the WAC are going to be clamoring too see what the WAC game of the week is. And in the end Fox, ESPN, and the rest are all part of the same 2-3 mega corporations.

I'm just glad we don't go with Flo Sports because that deal is garbage for the fans who have to pay a subscription for every sport like $20 a month or something. It's crazy. I rather spend the $7 for ESPN+ to get all the college sports with the package.

Here is what a contract with Flo looks like
https://www.scribd.com/document/52067786...s-Contract

By the way, why in the world is Chicago State contracting a minimum of 5 Football games to FLO starting in 2022-2023?

According to their website Flo is $30 a month or $150 a year. ESPN+ at $7 a month is way better. All you anti-ESPN guys are crazy.

Happy as a fan, but Flo would have paid the conference more, and our athletic department desperately needs money.

ESPN is much more accessible and you may get wandering eyes or people who are not as much connected with your program.

It also helps with those who have waning interest but want to tune in when things are good (i.e. not the fans from within your alumni base who are closest to the middle of the onion if you were looking at layers)

I want to know what Matt was talking about regarding other options though. Was someone besides FloSports at the table that we may see poke their fingers into mid-major sports?

That is after they leave the WAC. They will be free to sign whatever deals they want for that time frame.

Good question. Maybe its for a new flag football league. I seriously doubt they are adding football on their shoestring budget.

Maybe they’re planning to join the MSFL?
