RE: Interesting article suggesting B12 AAC Merger
That article is almost two weeks old and a lot has transpired since then. He also didn't explain how such a merger would net $25 mil per school. All I will say is if something like this was doable with that kind of payout it should have happened yesterday.

$25 is way too high but give UT/OU negotiations a month or two then some movements will start happening.

RE: Interesting article suggesting B12 AAC Merger
Had me up to this point...

"So, let’s talk about a 24 team Super Conference?

I would suggest that they go big and add Air Force, Army (we added them as the 20th school in the 20 team league), BYU, Colorado State, and Boise State. "

Well well, no Memphis... Army is discussed, does that mean that BYU will replace Memphis?

You mean you weren’t aware of our super secret invite to the SEC, because the 3 conference Alliance is going to stop them from getting Clemson.

He also said that under this merger each school would receive up to 35 million per school.

RE: Interesting article suggesting B12 AAC Merger
A merger is not going to happen. 25 mil per year is not going to happen. Either the leftover 8 are going to add, or become part of a non power conf.

A 24 team Super Conference? NO. Terrible idea.

The Big-12 will certainly be worth more than the AAC, particularly if the top 4 AAC schools join it. Those 4 schools should receive at least $14 million per year. Probably more.

RE: Interesting article suggesting B12 AAC Merger
I think writers forget that the AAC is under a contract and ESPN doesn’t have to renegotiate it. Even their “look in” isn’t guaranteed but sure, why not take a product you already have, add some teams that they didn’t really value and voila… triple the contract price for each…. Cause that’s smart business.

RE: Interesting article suggesting B12 AAC Merger
At the end of the day the B12 will likely have 10 to 14 schools, with 12 being more likely than 10. The AAC will lose 2 to 6 schools, and just like the leftovers will grab fruit from below to get back to 10 or 12. The new B12 will not get 20 mil per school, most likely will get 10 to 14 mil. I think 14 is likely high. The new refigured AAC will have to renegotiate its deal as well. Likely gets 2 to 5 mil per school, depending on how many get taken by the b12.

^^^what he said. Though I think they will got to 12-14. Smaller conferences have fewer votes and the new Big 12 will want to look like they are still a Power Conference.

I honestly don't see the AAC losing 4 schools. Probably one school if the L8 goes to 10, possibly 3 if they go to 12.

Memphis? Some of the best conversations in these threads are all about Memphis, and truthfully, I can't wait for Penny to be successful and shutup some loud mouths on this board.

It is amazing to see that the same delusional people that belive that the BIG XII will still be a worthy Power Conference without UT and OU don't think that a merger in which the AAC stays intact is unimaginable.

RE: Interesting article suggesting B12 AAC Merger
I do think there is a very slim chance they could maintain P5 status. They have to add enough schools that appear strong.
Right now Houston and UCF have Access bowl wins. That added to the Big 12 begins to paint a different picture. Maybe they grab Cinci and BYU too, who both nationally are perceived as strong teams.

When you look at the Leftover 8 with at least those four, then you honestly get similar performance to the PAC12.

With the Big 10, PAC 12 and ACC doing their thing together, it’s gonna leave the SEC a bot vulnerable. It could benefit them to continue to support the new Big 12 and make some level of a an agreement with them.
It won’t be as powerful, but it could be enough to stop the SEC from getting steamrolled… not to mention that the SEC wants Texas and OU earlier than 2025, so they may be willing to make confessions.

Again, not saying this will happen, but there are angles to be played. I truly believe a rebuilt Big 12 with the best pieces available (4-6 teams) could result in a PAC 12 level conference.

If they act quick, they could have 3 seasons of football to prove it.
