I've softened a lot on USF too honestly since the smugness of the aughts. I hope we're all playing together and in a better spot when this is done.

So if we’re in the ACC and you’re still in the AAC, you’re saying the USF administration would turn down that series?

I probably should add, though, given the emphasis on academics that USF has placed for the last decade plus, that if C. Florida got into the academically prestigious ACC and USF did not, there would be quite a bloodletting at USF on the academic side (as well as the athletics side). I'd say they'd fire the president, too, but let's face it, the entire upper administration at USF right now is a dumpster fire as we search for a new president.

USFFan

So in the very unlikely chance we get into the B1G, and you are left in the AAC or B12, mass suicides in Temple Terrace?

But seriously, I see no upside for USF discontinuing the series even if we are in separate conferences again.

Ive soften my stance and am much nicer to UCF fans now, but lets be clear. Your chances at the ACC is incredibly slim... like fractions of 1%.

Your chances of getting into the Big 10 make your chances of the ACC look likely in comparison. UCFs academics are nowhere near what the Big 10 would even look at.

USF is way ahead on research and AAU status... and the Big 10 wouldnt consider us even a little bit.

UCF has one landing spot outside of the AAC and thats the new Big 12... and honestly, I think your chances are good. The other two arent happening.

We'll have to agree to disagree here, but I think the reality of the power move that the SEC just made has thrown non-athletic concerns like academics out the window. The other leagues are going to have to make the most valuable athletic additions they can and hope that their shared banner brings up the academic quality at a new institution, such as how FSU benefited from ACC membership in that regard. Frankly, we started seeing moves for athletic value without much regard for academics when the ACC selected Louisville over UConn on the basis of their football program.

I’ll pay you a years salary if the Big 10 ever even lists UCF as a possible expansion candidate.

My entire family is Big 10 alumni and donors. UCF isn’t even a discussion. They won’t ever be mentioned.

Yeah, where's the down side on that? LOL

I mean, I think any one of us has a better shot at getting a threesome with Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh than either C. or USF has of getting a bid to the B1G (let's face it, they're going to be fishing in bigger waters and looking to add a UVa or a UNC long before they're looking to add either of us). But if somebody were willing to pay me a year's salary if I did, I wouldn't turn it down!

You've made your point about academics. I think the Big XII is less likely to care (hell, both of us are ranked more highly in the ARWU than either K-State or Texas Tech right now), though presidents are the ones who will be making these choices rather than ADs or fans, so who knows. I strongly suspect that the ACC will still be much more likely to regard academics (despite the way UNC made a mockery of the whole thing recently). We shall see!

Every school goes thru their up and down years. On the UP years you are more likely to hear the pounding of the chest and the cries of how valuable their school is.

On the DOWN years you usually not hear much or more humility.

The funny part is how fans of any school quickly forgets the DOWN years humility as soon as the winning returns.

I feel good about the coming years. Looks like the AAC may survive and possibly build. That gives us some chances and with the modest increase in money… build.

Sounds like we have an answer to some degree about whether UCF and USF are more valuable as a pair or individually.

Time for you guys to get your **** together so we can have more ranked matchups on Black Friday.

We can play usf out of conference on rivalry week like Uf and fsu does.

I can say unequivocally that THAT. WILL. NEVER. HAPPEN.

That is usf selling point right now. Honestly, if we can get in as a single university we should just discontinue the series for a decade. Do to usf what they did to UCF, some fans would be upset but the ones with the influence would be more than welcome a new rivalry.

Word is the AD just provided the future projects list for 50M in newer facilities. On phone so can't link, but its happening.

USF and UCF are pretty interchangeable to anyone outside of the AAC and most parts of Florida. The panhandle is still kind of a toss up.

This is a weird pissing match but I'm here for it.

Life goes on. While I think the rivalry helps both schools, should it end for awhile it won’t kill either school as we know from past history.

Oh really? Since 2018, UCF has had the ninth-most nationally televised network games trailing only Alabama, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida and Auburn, and just ahead of LSU. Where’s USF in that?

LOL. Let UCF go 12-22 in that time period and see how that changes. Facts are that UCF has been more successful recently so they have gotten more attention, let them go on a tail spin and see what happens.

Anyways I’m not going to get into another stupid USZf vs UCF spitting match on an internet board.

RE: The "Four Million Club"
Ironically, it was UCFs zero win season that made me soften up. After hiring Skip Holtz and watch him do his best to destroy our team, it made me realize how quickly things can change.

UCF was on a bit of a run. Last year may be an anomaly or a sign. We’ll see. USF went in a good run and was ready to be the head of the AAC when we had Flowers and Marlon Mack, then a loss of a coach and a bad hire threw us back into rebuilding. Charlie strong did more damage to our program than any coach, but we have a good guy in there and I think he will turn it around.

All that to say, never count in success lasting forever. Being arrogant now only opens up ridicule later when it inevitably goes bad.
