AD inherited a program that needed an overhaul. Most of us were initially excited about the direction AD wanted to go. Several years later it’s hard to see any progress. I suspect it’s do or die time for this staff. What say ye?

I would think this is do or die for Dorrel. Honestly, I see 4 or 5 wins. I am not sure that is enough to keep him in Abilene. I was one that was excited that he came to ACU. I wanted that midwestern tough football style of play. He just has never been able to replicate what he had at NWMS. Is it him or ACU? Probably a combination of both. Pretty much every interview and game I hear announcers still call him the winningest coach, but that was the past. I am sure that has to be a thorn. Is a great season even enough to save him?

I imagine a great season would be enough to save his job. Winning 4 or games is not much to brag about though, since our schedule includes an NAIA school, an average D2 squad, a second D2 team that’s transitioning to FCS, and two FCS games against the team everyone predicts to finish last in the AQ7.

That average D2 team went 5-0 last season, even if it was against lesser competition. We all know we can lose to D2 teams. The transitioning team played pretty well last year and always played us tough. So, neither of those are gimme games. SFA? Well, they are always a toss up and I'm not going to call that game a win yet. Lamar? Will we split the games or sweep them? The others? Good luck to us as I hope we have gotten over a hump. The pudding has yet to be served. So, yeah, I still say 4-5 wins with the schedule we have. If we do actually break .500, then I am sure Dorrel will get another shot. He has yet to impress me with his years here. And yes, those 4 wins won't give us any bragging rights. Who knows, we may lose to one of the lesser teams and beat one of the greater teams. How much does that help? Here's hoping to some good thick, delicious, pudding.

We have a history of beating the conference champion (Nichols, two consecutive years) and losing to lesser teams. So, who knows. My prediction- he will need to break 500 to save his job. And that might not be enough.
