Yep. This will be the best Bearcat draft ever. They have done a terrific job of finding and developing talent. I read where quarterback Desmond Ritter was recruited by Zac Taylor, the current head coach with the Cincinnati Bengals. Taylor was the OC in 2016 with the Bearcats. He had one offer at the time, from Eastern Kentucky. Taylor loved his leadership abilities. The challenge for Luke Fickell is to continue to find the two-star and three-star players that they can develop into stars.

Cornerback Ahmad Gardner, wide receiver Alec Pierce, and defensive end Myjai Sanders are among the players that will be drafted that the power conference schools missed on. That is impressive. Unfortunately, Cincinnati ranks 51st in the overall 247sports 2022 recruiting rankings this year. Making it to the playoffs this season did not improve the recruiting. Maybe Fickell can continue to find and develop two-star and three-star players into future NFL players, but that is not easy to sustain.

UC recruits three and four star players, not two stars. The class rankings the past couple of years have been significantly higher than the class Desmond Ridder came in under.

Luke Fickell is a very good coach and has the respect of the coaches across the country. Of course, I should not have to tell you this, Ridder led a group of two and three star kids over your UCLA team twice.

UC recruits very few two-star prospects at this point.

In the past two years, Cincinnati has had a total of two four-star recruits out of 46 recruits, per 247sports.com. The recruiting ranking in 2022 is 51st, was 45th in 2021, 41st in 2020 and 66th in 2019. Cincnnati does not compete in recruiting with the power conference schools. Maybe in the future, but not today.

As for UCLA, in that 2018-2019 period UCLA went 7-17, the worst two-year period in over 50 years for the Bruins. The Bruins got crushed at home by Fresno State and loss their first game ever to San Diego State in that two-year period. You can feel good about beating them, but UConn would have beaten those UCLA teams.

Cincinnati's recruiting will only keep trending up (and sharply)
