Googling gets old

The DNR recently published a figure of approximately 5000 viewers per game on Flosports for JMU in 2021 in comparing to the ESPN+ package for the SBC in 2022. (~100K per)

5000 for JMU in 2021 must mean 500 to 1000 for the average CAA team if that

I'll take the under on that number for the CAA. Plus there is no exposure at all for the league. It definitely hurt in seeding for basketball and football that none of the committee members can see our games. Granted, if there is enough money going to the schools then maybe it doesn't matter. But, I am not sure that is the case. I guess there might be plus for non-football and non-basketball coverage. I am curious if any individual schools in the CAA are against the Flo deal.

An interesting question bolded above. I had just assumed that all of the schools in the CAA had felt that they were smarter than the rest of FCS...

We miss FLO 03-lmfao

Couldn't the CAA gotten as good a deal from ESPN?

I hated paying more than twice as much for FLO.

RE: FloSports Expansion
TLDR: "The Missouri Valley Football Conference and ESPN have reached a new multimedia rights extension.... During the term of the six-year extension, a minimum of nine MVFC games will be featured on ESPN linear networks (ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU), in addition to continuing the eight-game Conference “Game of the Week” digital package on ESPN+"

I'll be curious how many of those 9 games are just NDSU/SDSU. That's probably the most attractive matchup from a TV standpoint by a mile, but not sure the other conference members would love sharing 3 games over the next 6 years.

But still, it's great exposure for the conference, and I would honestly be happy with an ESPN+ only deal for the CAA. Significantly more people have ESPN+ than Flo, it has more content on it, and it's cheaper.

And it's half the price and includes a ton more interesting programming.

You mean to tell me you guys would rather have Disney+/Hulu/and ESPN+ for $12.99/mo than Flosports for $14.99/mo?

Lol, too true.

Alright I'm just going to put this out there and please just ignore me instead of everyone enumerate the *reasonable* responses of why we don't go patriot....but anyone looked at Holy Cross's schedule this year? At Boston College on ACC Network and at Army on CBS Sports. Other notable games include at Yale and Harvard at home. All games are on Saturday, and other than the ones mentioned all on ESPN+...just saying...

I can actually remember the earliest years of ESPN when rodeos were some of their top programming.

Thank you. He broke the team and CAA records, and got on ESPN. Next season, he could be the fifth CAA player to 600 assists. The most recent CAA player with at least 600 assists was VCU's Eric Maynor from 2005 to 2009. Carlos also averages 4.2 rebounds, which is great for a 6 feet 0 inches player.

Here is tomorrow night's schedule:

North Carolina A&T at Stony Brook at 6:31 P.M. on SNY
UNCW at William & Mary at 7:00 P.M.
Monmouth at Towson at 7:00 on MeTV Baltimore
Hampton at Campbell at 7:00 P.M.
Charleston at Delaware at 7:00 P.M. on NBC Sports Philadelphia
Elon at Northeastern at 7:00 P.M. on NESN+
Drexel at Hofstra at 7:00 P.M. on CBS Sports Network

I think tonight's viewing shows a big part of why ADs prefer Flo. CAA game on CBS as part of the conference deal, then other conference games on NBC Sports Philly, SNY, MeTV Baltimore, and NESN+. All four of those are deals the schools have individually. I'm not sure if Hofstra or Drexel have a deal with one of the NY/Philly stations, but if they do there's the chance to have 6 games in a single night on regional or national sports networks. If the home/road teams were flipped, I think they'd all be only on Flo. Still, those are at least 4-6 schools that are getting the most out of their local rights and getting money from Flo instead of paying ESPN.

Drexel is sometimes on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Hofstra is sometimes on MSG, which started this season. Monmouth is sometimes on SNY and NBC Sports Philadelphia, but today they are only on the latter because SNY is showing your game at Stony Brook with one hour of overlap. All seven teams north of Virginia are sometimes on local TV.

RE: FloSports Expansion
Definitely FLO loses any casual fan. And I guess since the 2019 decision in March, I am one of those. I used to watch every game and attended a few each year and also the tourney. I have not been to a game since 2019 and haven't ever gotten FLO. The only game I watched on TV for a decent period was the one where Marcus got his number retired. Even for football, where we go to 2-3 games a year, it is still a bit less even with some games on Roanoke TV via Cox(which I don't have).

We do get the Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ bundle for free. It was part of the purchase of multiple phones that got us that deal and we are keeping it as long as we can. So, I can and do watch a lot of other basketball conferences. But, I admit I miss the old days when the CAA was a great league and I could watch that AND other games for free. I would watch a decent amount of Hofstra, Northeastern and UNCW back in the mid-2010s. W&M won't get any casual fans without a good streaming deal that includes other stuff that just league content. That is the appeal of the ESPN deal. Your family watches Disney+ and Hulu. The $900 I saved definitely got spent somewhere else. When the Tribe was on Comcast/MASN and NBCSN, it was definitely far better than it is now. That being said, CBSSN is decent exposure, it is just the rest of the slate on FLO that is basically worthless.
