Exclamation Here is what everyone wants to happen between AAC and L8
1) Cindy, UCF, Memphis, Houston, SMU - The Big 12 add 4 (the music will stop and one from this group will not have a chair)

2) USF, Tulane - The Big12 add 6 (the music will stop and one from this group will not have a chair)

3) ECU, Tulsa, Temple - Merger or B12 explodes so we have a chair

I miss anything? 07-coffee3

I would be very pleased if the R8 joined the AAC — and, yes, it could happen. But I simply don't foresee it.

Love to have them all on the schedule. I’d be pleased if the B12 merged with the AAC provided the AAC jettisoned some of the conference’s lower end. However, that has as much chance of happening as the B12 folding into the AAC.

This is fine and dandy, but who offers the B12 its next tv contract? I just think that if you could propose a merger with the PAC-12, why wouldn’t you consider a merger with the AAC? Why not put the agreement/framework in place to be completed once Texas and Oklahoma leave ... 07-coffee3?

This is the most likely outcome. Just some posters have their hearts set on being part of the p5. Even though that is about to become an archaic term with no value or meaning. ESPN is making the moves right now and caught the L8 and Fox with their pants down, may be some kickin, some screaming, and some crying but its over.

The AAC will not kick members out in a merger. The more likely scenario would have AAC members joining the remaining B-12 members in the B-12 with the AAC replacing the members that leave. 04-bow 04-rock 03-shhhh 04-cheers

To me other than 5+/- other L8 finding a new home & the remaining 3 joining AAC this may be best case scenario for AAC as a whole that could be realistic.

In this scenario I assume the B12 TV is with Fox ( or anyone other than ESPN). B12 becomes G5 level conference (which is inevitable) with pay roughly equal to AAC, but with ESPN’s promotion AAC quickly overtakes B12 in national appeal & on field performance.

I just believe with ESPN pushing AAC as top non P4 (or what other term is created in future for perceived power conferences) the AAC has the advantage over Fox doing same for B12 as both have tv inventory to fill & want it as marketable as possible.

Also I think the only way the top AAC schools go to B12 is with ESPN’s approval/ or commitment to take their tv $ with them to B12…..I know it’s all a business but ESPN has yet to indicate that’s the case.

The MWC schools make a lot more sense from an institutional fit than the AAC does. The problem with that is that it still leaves WVU on an island.

My concern is that BYU administration is too smart to join the BIG VIII

If ACC doesn’t come through for WV & B12 $ are roughly same as AAC, maybe they can work out a deal that benefits both conference & school for them to move….lowering both WV & the remaining B12 travel costs could be incentive if/when P5 $ are gone.

Sorry but TCwho doesn’t bring the Dallas market. SMU is a much stronger candidate than USF.

thats fine...tcu still isnt going to let you in... adding 4 means going to 12.. they arent going to add overlapping teams at 12..

usf is a new market, travel partner and rivalry for ucf, in a new recruiting hotbed

the idea of a 12 team big 12 with 5 Texas teams isnt happening, you know this too... not exactly sure why you are trying to sell it. you can claim to be a better candidate and probably true.. but expansion has to do with more than that
