ACC-PAC 12 idea
The PAC 12 has been talking to the Big 12 about strategic partnerships but the party that seems more appropriate as a partner is the ACC.

If you want to partner with someone who doesn’t mind Noon Eastern start times, partner with the conference who has 14 and a half eastern time zone teams.

Academically—the ACC also had a fair share of AAU schools: Pitt, UVA, UNC, Duke, GT.

I could seriously see a reality, where in the 2030s, the Big Ten and SEC peek away a few ACC schools, and what you’re left with, as a third and weakest Super Conference is An East Coast-West Coast conglomeration of ACC Leftovers and the PAC 12.

RE: ACC-PAC 12 idea
The PAC wanted the ACC to partner with them on a network when the PAC network was being formed. The idea was to be able to provide content for 4 time slots (two from the east , two from the west).
ACC Presidents opted for the security of ESPN.

RE: ACC-PAC 12 idea
There are other options I would much prefer for Clemson ahead of the ACC doing anything with the PAC-12 or schools from the PAC-12. However, if there is a real chance of the ACC being picked apart by the SEC and/or B1G and Clemson is not going to receive one of those invitations, then I'm open to other options. Also, to play along with the ACC - PAC-12 theme of this thread, I posted this in another thread recently, and other have posted some similar things. If you were to grab five schools from the PAC-12 and one more school on the Eastern side of the country, you could have four scheduling pods of five schools each, with the West Coast team all in their own pod. I think this would be better for the ACC than an alliance with the full PAC-12. This would allow the five West Coast schools to have two home games against their pod members and two road games in the West against their pod members. Then, they would have two or three home games against ACC schools in the pod they are teamed up with that season, and two or three road games in the Eastern time zone.

Here is an example of scheduling pods if the Irish want to come along as number 20.

POD 1 - Clemson, FSU, Georgia Tech, Miami, Wake Forest
POD 2 - Duke, NC State, UNC, Virginia, Virginia Tech
POD 3 - Boston College, Louisville, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Syracuse
POD 4 - Cal, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC

If the Irish say no thanks, here is an example with a school like Cincinnati or West Virginia as the 20th.

POD 1 - Clemson, FSU, Georgia Tech, Miami, Wake Forest
POD 2 - Duke, NC State, UNC, Virginia, Virginia Tech
POD 3 - Boston College, Cincinnati/West Virginia, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Syracuse
POD 4 - Cal, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC

Here is an example with a school like UCF as the 20th.

POD 1 - Clemson, FSU, Georgia Tech, Miami, UCF
POD 2 - Duke, NC State, UNC, Virginia, Wake Forest
POD 3 - Boston College, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia Tech
POD 4 - Cal, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC

This is really just crazy pre-season message board stuff though.
