RE: Biden*s Migrant Crisis Just Keeps Getting Worse and Worse
Haitian migrants revolt in custody and seize control of privately contracted bus
Quote:DEL RIO, Texas — Haitian migrants who were being transported on a federally contracted private bus away from the border revolted during the ride and overtook control of the commercial vehicle before escaping, according to two law enforcement officials.
A large white bus bound for San Antonio, Texas, was overtaken Monday afternoon during the two-and-a-half-hour trip from the international bridge in Del Rio. The migrants on board had been picked up from the makeshift migrant camp, where thousands are waiting to be taken into custody, two federal law enforcement agents told the Washington Examiner.
"They did break out of the bus, and they did escape," a senior federal law enforcement official confirmed to the Washington Examiner on Tuesday.
It is not clear which federal agency, Customs and Border Protection or Immigration and Customs Enforcement, was overseeing the transport. CBP initially apprehends, transports, and processes illegal immigrants, while ICE is responsible for longer-term detention and removal from the country. Neither agency responded to requests for comment.
However, ICE told a local media outlet that "several noncitizens attempted to flee the contracted bus."
The two people who confirmed the incident said law enforcement searched for the escapees and recaptured them.
Texas Sheriff Bill Waybourn and Art Del Cueto of the National Border Patrol Council slam the Biden administration for its failures at the border.
Harris Undercuts Biden, Says Flood of Migrants Proves We Must Do More for Haiti
Quote:Kamala Harris undercut Joe Biden late on Tuesday when asked about the thousands of Haitian migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, calling for the Biden administration to do more for Haiti.
“The whole point is that we have to understand Haiti,” Harris replied when asked about the reported 15,000 mostly Haitian migrants currently being held under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas.
Harris also tried claiming that natural disasters in Haiti and their president being assassinated in July have played a role in thousands of Haitians trying to come to America.
“We really have to do a lot more to recognize that as a member of the Western Hemisphere, we gotta support some very basic needs that the people of Haiti have,” Harris said.

Harris also reacted to photos of U.S. border enforcement officials riding horses and confronting migrants crossing the border.
“What I saw depicted about those individuals on horseback, treating human beings was horrible,” she said.
“I fully support what is happening right now, which is a thorough investigation into exactly what is going on there,” she said. “But human beings should never be treated that way. I’m deeply troubled about it.”
Border Patrol is part of the federal government, so Harris is essentially calling for an investigation into her own administration.
A small group of Haitian migrants aboard a private bus contracted by the federal government who were being taken from an encampment near Del Rio, Texas, rebelled during the ride and took control of the vehicle before escaping, law enforcement officials said.
The large white bus was en route to San Antonio, Texas, officials said, when it was overtaken on Monday afternoon at some point during the normally two-and-a-half-hour journey from the border city, the Washington Examiner reported.
The migrants were initially picked up from encampment, where more than 15,000 mostly Haitian migrants had assembled over the past week. Thousands more still remain there and are waiting to be taken into custody under the watchful eye of Border Patrol and Texas law enforcement officers.
The incident was reported to the Examiner by two federal law enforcement officials, the outlet said.
“They did break out of the bus, and they did escape,” said a senior federal law enforcement official in confirming the incident to the outlet on Tuesday.
“It is not clear which federal agency, Customs and Border Protection or Immigration and Customs Enforcement, was overseeing the transport. CBP initially apprehends, transports, and processes illegal immigrants, while ICE is responsible for longer-term detention and removal from the country. Neither agency responded to requests for comment,” the Examiner reported.
That said, ICE told a local media outlet that “several noncitizens attempted to flee the contracted bus.”
“The safety of our personnel and the people in our custody is of utmost priority, the individuals, noncitizens are all back in our custody,” an ICE spokesperson told KVEO.
News of the bus incident and near-escape comes as the White House lashed out at the Border Patrol over tactics agents employed to prevent Haitian migrants from crossing illegally into the U.S. from Mexico.
“Pictures emerged on Monday of agents on horseback appearing to use the reins or lariats to strike at migrants and block their paths with the animals. Some Democrats and the media accused agents of ‘whipping’ migrants, although this has been denied by Border Patrol,” the Examiner reported separately.
The official said that regarding the incident in question, “the agent was acting in a way to keep migrants from continuing forward, said the official,” the Examiner reported. “The agent performed a ‘twirl of the reins’ to keep people back from the horse for their safety, and no one was whipped.”
The Border Crisis in Del Rio Was Caused by Biden, Now There's a Second Attack on DHS Agents
Quote:We reported earlier how Haitians who were on board a bus from Del Rio to Brownsville attacked the DHS staff who were guarding them and hijacked the bus. Some of the staff were injured and some of the illegal aliens temporarily escaped but were then rounded back up by local law enforcement.
But this is just one of the many problems that Biden’s border disaster has fostered.
First let’s start with the fact that again, the almost 15,000 Haitians living under a bridge at the border in squalor was a crisis of Biden’s own making.
From NY Post:
These are not people escaping an earthquake or political unrest or extreme poverty in Haiti, according to one of the most informed border observers, Todd Bensman, senior national security fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies and author of “America’s Covert Border War.”
All the Haitians he has interviewed have been living in Chile or Brazil for the past three to five years.
“I’ve never met one yet who is actually coming directly from Haiti,” he said. “But they will probably apply for asylum on the basis of [problems] in Haiti.”
Bensman has covered the border crisis for more than a year, traveling through Guatemala and Mexico to interview migrants.
The Haitians now in Del Rio were “living a pretty good life [in South America] but they are seeing an opportunity to improve their situation,” he says.
“They say they heard Joe Biden was opening the border up so they came.”
Most of them have work permits and residency in other countries which should make them not eligible for asylum. But that wouldn’t stop the Biden administration from letting them stay.
So these were not legitimate asylum seekers fleeing desperate situations, but economic migrants, egged on by Biden’s lax border policies.
Most of the folks aren’t being deported, according to reports, but rather, secretly bused to other places all over the country to then be released. The reports were that single men were being deported, while family unit were getting to stay.
Of the 3,300 processed over the weekend from under the bridge, just 327 were sent out on flights to Haiti. So only about ten percent. So where did the other folks go? To centers to be processed elsewhere, to be released into the U.S.
But there were problems caused today on one of the flights back to Haiti.
DHS confirmed to Fox’s Bill Melugin that Haitian migrants who were on a deportation flight back to Haiti caused “two separate disruptions” on the tarmac in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, injuring three ICE officers who sustained non-life threatening injuries. Haitian crowd control police were involved in responding.
They don’t want to go back to Haiti because they haven’t been there in years and would be at a complete loss.
Although most are being released into this country, this threat of being possibly deported back to Haiti is now actually having a positive effect and causing some to decide to go back to South America rather than risk being deported to Haiti.
So Biden accidentally tripped across one of the things that made the Trump policies so effective — deterrence. That said, there are still a tremendous number of people just being released into the United States.
