Biden*s Migrant Crisis Just Keeps Getting Worse and Worse
Quote:How horrible will the migrant crisis have to get before the Biden administration starts taking it seriously? A recent report indicates that the data on migrant encounters at the border in July might be even worse than in June and so far, neither President Joe Biden nor his alleged border czar, Vice President Kamala Harris, seem to have any real solutions.

The Associated Press reported that the number of unaccompanied minors showing up at the southern border “likely hit an all-time high in July” and the number of families possibly “reached its second-highest total on record,” according to a U.S. official. These preliminary numbers are quite alarming given that attempts to cross the border typically decrease around this time of the year due to the excessive heat, which can often prove fatal to migrants seeking to gain entry into the United States.

David Shahoulian, assistant secretary of border and immigration policy at the Department of Homeland Security told the AP that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) probably rounded up about 19,000 unaccompanied children last month. This exceeds the prior high of 18,877 that was apprehended in March. In June, the number was 15,253. The official also stated that the number of migrants encountered in July is projected to be about 80,000, which is up from June.

But the situation gets even more severe. The AP reported:

Overall, U.S. authorities stopped migrants about 210,000 times at the border in July, up from 188,829 in June and the highest in more than 20 years. But the numbers aren’t directly comparable because many cross repeatedly under a pandemic-related ban that expels people from the country immediately without giving them a chance to seek asylum but carries no legal consequences.

Shahoulian stated that agents detained migrants about 78,000 times in the Rio Grande Valley. In June, the number of encounters was 59,380 in June and 51,149 in May. The pandemic-related ban on asylum seekers was renewed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and has remained in place amid criticism from immigration advocacy groups.

Still, the official stated that the number of encounters is expected to reach an all-time high for the 2021 fiscal year, which ends on Sept. 30. The rapid increase is placing even more pressure on an already stretched thin CBP. The AP noted:

The Border Patrol had 17,778 people in custody on Sunday, despite a “COVID-19 adjusted capacity” of 4,706. The Rio Grande Valley sector was holding 10,002 of them.

Even with the risk of being turned away at the border, migrant families and unaccompanied minors are still making the journey. If they are willing to brave the harsh weather to try to get into the country, imagine how many more will do the same under cooler temperatures. At this point, this crisis does not appear to have an end.

"...neither President Joe Biden nor his alleged border czar, Vice President Kamala Harris, seem to have any real solutions".

One would have to actually be looking for solutions first, correct? This is all according to plan.

IDK why states like Texas don't load them onto another bus and drop them off in DC or SF or Chicago or NYC...

Im beginning to think this POTUS should be impeached for treason allowing Covid infected border jumpers to freely enter the country. Especially since he freely advocates the this virus is deadly. Honestly...This is MUCH worse that the BS they impeached Trump for.

RE: Biden*s Migrant Crisis Just Keeps Getting Worse and Worse
Democrats Are Disguising Their Dereliction Of Duty At The Border As Infrastructure

Quote:Today on America’s southern border, a crisis is threatening the future of our country’s economy, health, and rule of law. More than 1 million migrants have already been apprehended illegally crossing into the United States this year – a number that doesn’t count those the Border Patrol didn’t catch.

This crisis – which has been largely ignored by the media – falls under the clear constitutional authority of the president and Congress. And the solution, sealing the border (i.e. finish the wall), is not only obvious and popular, but would also drive up wages and create more good-paying jobs for hard-working American families.

And yet, after months of unrelenting violence and lawlessness – and a humanitarian crisis of disease, death, and the systematic abuse of women and children – Washington Democrats’ only response is to change the subject.

Their distractions began with an unnecessary $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill, months after President Trump’s vaccination program had the virus in retreat. Democrats promised this spending would supercharge the economy. All it did was penalize employment and trigger the worst inflation to hit our economy in decades. The Democrats have continued their distractions with voting rights bills, a January 6 commission, and threats of another COVID lockdown – all while avoiding a very real and dangerous crisis.

Democrats and the media have ignored the border crisis this winter and spring, openly hoping that it would ebb by itself in the Mexican summer. Instead, the heat has only made the situation more dangerous.

In July, authorities found 43 bodies rotting in the desert along Arizona’s border towns. The number of unaccompanied children along the border has more than doubled since last year. Reports of sexual assault and abuse of women and children have been rampant. Just in the last few days, Fox News reports that some detention facilities for illegal immigrants are 585 percent over capacity.

The Border Patrol does not test migrants for COVID-19 unless they show signs of sickness, so we don’t know how many of the hundreds of thousands of migrants coming into the country have the virus, but they are coming from countries with much lower vaccination rates than the U.S.

From the beginning of the migrant crisis on the border, Democrats and the media have tried to blame it on President Trump, or COVID, or climate change. But when reporters ask the migrants themselves why they are coming, their answer is the same: President Joe Biden is for open borders. This crisis would never have started if Donald Trump were president, because the wall would have been completed and migrants would know they would be turned away.

In recent weeks, Biden made a terrible situation worse by simply carting busloads of illegal immigrants into American communities by the thousands, without COVID tests, without court dates, without accountability.

As the crisis has ground on, Biden’s public approval has fallen. But rather than solve the problem, he and his party have turned to another shiny object to distract the country from Democrats’ incompetence, radicalism, and corruption: the “bipartisan” infrastructure bill.

As Russ Vought, President Trump’s former budget chief, said, this infrastructure bill isn’t even an infrastructure bill. Only a fraction of its $1-trillion price tag will be spent on the roads, bridges, ports, and waterways most people understand as “infrastructure.” The rest is going to environmental boondoggles, woke pet projects, and utter nonsense like $250 million to kill weeds. This additional spending is only going to add to our unsustainable national debt and escalate the inflation already strangling family budgets.

Yet in all those billions, the bill doesn’t contain a dime for a border wall or for more Border Patrol officers. Nothing to address the criminal and humanitarian crisis Democrats have created. The entire border emergency could be resolved at a fraction of the cost of this non-infrastructure bill – and at least building the wall would actually employ thousands of construction workers for months or more!

If Biden wanted to solve his border crisis, he could. If he wanted to sign an actual infrastructure bill, Congress would write one. But what Biden really wants is not solutions, but distractions.

Democrats reportedly may even try to smuggle amnesty for illegal immigrants into the final infrastructure bill. All under the guise of “investing in our future.” More debt. More inflation. More waste. More illegal crossings of the border, and all the violence to women and children that come with it. More lawlessness. And now, if we look past all the distractions, we catch a glimpse of the Democrat’s ultimate strategy – amnesty, citizenship, and voting rights to all who are coming here illegally.

This is not leadership or bipartisanship. It’s a dereliction of duty, a conspiracy of Washington elites against the American people and the country we love. This phony infrastructure bill is just a signal of where Washington and America are going under our current leadership. And unfortunately, enough complicit Republicans are willing to give this spending debacle a “bipartisan” label. All these distractions are giving the Democrats exactly what they want: ignorant voters. And they know the media will help them blame the crises and chaos on the Republicans. Let’s hope the majority of Americans can see through this charade.

'Kids In Cages' Has Spiraled Out of Control Under Biden, With Border Towns Begging for Help

Quote:Based on new photos released today, conditions are outright inhumane at the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) facility in Donna, Texas.

Despite the fact that the government has expanded facilities and sped up the processing of illegal aliens the system, the massive influx is still outpacing the ability to keep up, and the facility is attempting to deal with even more people than when the news shocked Americans in March.

In March, there were 4000 people packed into the holding pods/cages. Now, according to Fox, there are 5300 illegal aliens in custody at the facility, with between 40-60 people per pod. This is while COVID restrictions dictate that there should only be 10 people per pod.

Here are new pictures from Fox News.

So not only is Joe Biden failing to deal with the problem; he can’t even follow his own COVID restrictions here. No wonder so many detainees are getting sick.

On Thursday, more than 800 children were apprehended at the border, while 612 were released into HHS care. Overall, there was an 8% increase in UAC encounters between May and June, and a 25% increase of migrant family encounters.

It is part of a continuing surge of migrants at the border which sees no sign of slowing. More than 188,000 migrants were encountered in June, and reports say that more than 210,000 were encountered in July — although those numbers have not been released yet. That is up dramatically from the 78,000 encountered in January.

It’s a disaster for the local communities in the Rio Grande Valley to have to deal with all this. People in McAllen, Texas have been begging the federal government for help.

From Townhall:

Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez, a Democrat, revealed after being asked by Townhall the Biden administration not only has ignored his invitations to visit the Rio Grande Valley to see the border crisis firsthand, but the administration has completely ignored all their calls for further help.[….]

“I am extremely disappointed that we’ve received absolutely zero communication with them and I hope it changes very quickly because evidence [of] the problems that it’s causing for our community,”

It isn’t the City of McAllen’s and/or the local charities’ obligation to police these people. But the federal government has abrogated its responsibilities. The locals can’t force the illegal aliens to quarantine.

But it’s all okay, because they call them “pods” now instead of “cages.”

Lol

11 of us just made the mistake of thinking we would be allowed to travel outside the country for a lil family Vacay.

12-20 hours and thousands of dollars later we were “allowed” to reenter the country we were born in and reclaim our car, luggage and eventually the dog.

Apparently cheaper and faster to simply fly to Juarez or Tijuana then just stroll on in. May have gotten a free connecting flight or bus ride from there as well.

#Lifeinclownville only not nearly that funny.

RE: Biden*s Migrant Crisis Just Keeps Getting Worse and Worse
Biden’s Open Borders Drain American Resources

Quote:Rarely is the sequence of cause and effect so clear. The current surge of migrants at our southern border is the direct result of the Biden administration eliminating the Trump rules that had once tamed the flow. Gone are the “safe third country” agreements that helped migrants apply for asylum in countries through which they had already traveled. Gone is the “remain in Mexico” policy that ensured a mere application for asylum would not be a free ticket into the United States. At the same time, Obama-era “catch and release” for minors and family units has made a comeback. As word has spread of this lax enforcement, more and more migrants throughout the world are attempting the journey.

The border crisis has immediate legal and humanitarian consequences, but what can we expect the downstream effects on our economy to be? How will American workers and taxpayers ultimately fare? While advocates insist that the economic effects of immigration are virtually all positive, a fair assessment of the literature cannot support such a rosy outlook. In reality, the economic impact of immigration is mixed. It offers some benefits for Americans but also some costs, and weighing those competing impacts is a matter for the political process. Uncontrolled immigration denies Americans the right to that process.

One of the most straightforward economic benefits of immigration is that it can hold down labor costs, thus reducing the prices of goods and services for consumers. The corresponding downside, of course, is that U.S. workers see a decline in their wages. The National Academies of Sciences demonstrated this tradeoff in its book-length report published in 2016. In one of the report’s simpler models, U.S. residents collected an annual $54 billion in economic gains due to immigration. But those gains required the transfer of about $500 billion from U.S. workers to owners of capital.

The distributional impact of immigration becomes even more concerning when we consider which workers are affected the most. Over the past fifty years, immigrants to the U.S. have been generally less skilled than the average U.S. worker, and this is especially true of the Central Americans who are now surging at the border. As a result, most will compete in the labor market with Americans who are similarly less skilled. The gains in efficiency due to immigration therefore tend to come at the expense of the least-skilled U.S. workers.

The empirical evidence for this phenomenon was aptly summarized by the National Academies in its table of estimated wage effects. Out of the twenty-two estimates in that table, eighteen were negative, and most affected U.S. residents with low levels of education. The empirical studies do have a couple of drawbacks, however. First, they use complicated models that can be difficult to relate back to the real world. Second, because these models are so assumption-driven, they generate a wide range of estimates. Even though the literature points strongly toward negative wage effects, one can always find individual studies that claim zero impact from immigration.

For some real-world evidence that falsifies the “zero impact” theory, consider the multitude of cases filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) against employers who openly favor immigrants over natives. The discrimination in these cases is not subtle. “All you Americans are fired” and “All you black American people, f*** you all … just go to the office and pick up your check” are actual quotes from an EEOC case against one Georgia farm. In case after case, the pattern of using immigration to depress wages and working conditions clearly emerges, and one need not be an econometrician to observe it.

*****

Aside from the labor market, the other major economic impact of immigration falls on the government’s finances, and here again the effects are mixed. On the positive side, immigrants make the U.S. economy larger. A larger GDP gives the U.S. government more resources to exert influence on the world stage. It also can boost pure public goods, such as national defense and scientific research.

Remember, however, that although immigration increases GDP, the vast majority of the economic gains go to immigrants themselves, with little impact on per-person GDP. And unlike national defense, most government services become proportionately more expensive as the population increases. Even services meant to benefit the community as a whole — such as parks, highways, and police — can become congested and require new investments when immigrants arrive.

Determining the overall fiscal impact of immigration can be complicated, but the National Academies report offers two intuitive lessons. First, today’s immigrants as a whole are net fiscal drains — they receive more in services than they contribute in taxes. Second, although long-term estimates are less reliable, immigrants who arrive with no more than a high school diploma are likely to be net fiscal drains throughout their lives, while immigrants who arrive with at least a four-year college degree are likely to be net fiscal contributors. The U.S. may therefore wish to select for the highest-skilled immigrants, but no selection is possible while the border remains porous.

In an effort to reduce the budgetary strain associated with immigration, the Trump administration strengthened the rule against admitting aliens who are likely to become “public charges,” meaning dependent on government for their basic needs. While prior administrations had defined dependency as receiving cash welfare or institutional care, the Trump administration expanded the criteria to include receipt of Medicaid, housing assistance, and food stamps. Upon taking office, Biden promptly canceled this expansion, preferring to admit more immigrants who will use those programs.

Although illegal immigrants have largely the same labor-market impact as similarly skilled legal immigrants, some important fiscal differences exist. The most salient is that illegal immigrants cannot collect Social Security and Medicare benefits, but roughly half do contribute taxes toward those programs. These “free” contributions are an unambiguous benefit for natives, but they are also a ticking time bomb of sorts. Each surge of illegal immigration generates calls for amnesty, and since amnesty confers eligibility for benefits, the “free” contributions would turn into a net cost to taxpayers of over $1 trillion.

Once again, the economic tradeoffs inherent to immigration policy are real. A full accounting of costs and benefits needs to be part of the political process that establishes a sound immigration policy. Unfortunately, the political process cannot operate as long as the border remains unsecured. Americans have the right to decide how many and which types of people enter their country each year, but illegal immigration takes that decision out of their hands.

Why are the GOP not demanding impeachment? Constitutionally the POTUS is responsible for borders and immigration. He is literally committing treason by knowingly allowing infected people into the country. The border must be sealed. There is no other option for him if he is trying to uphold his oath of office.

This ^ Any attempt at impeachment would just be political theatre and more wasted taxpayer money. Nothing would come of it.
