Strange as we already have an elite, nationally ranked (and #1 in Texas) libero (Gabby Mansfield from Klein, I believe) committed for the Class of '22, and Genny's daughter is a class of '23 libero.

Makes sense if Genny is expecting LaBue and Grippo to be gone next year, and Samojedny the year after.

FYI, Harris is from the same area as LaBue.

@MansfieldGaby

Unfortunately due to family circumstances I won’t be playing high school ball my senior year, but so appreciative of this article. Thank you
@PrepDigTX! Looking forward to @RiceVolleyball next year!

That would likely make her a Top 5 libero. I believe incoming recruit, Gabby Mansfield, is a Top 10 ranked libero.

I'm not sure if we've mentioned her or not, but Lademi Ogunlana has signed with Rice. She's a 6-0 hitter/blocker from Elkins HS in Fort Bend and the Houston Juniors VB Club. She's a current senior.

Got a ‘24 verbal commitment from Savannah Skopal.

She’s a 6’0” setter from Rouse High in Leander, TX.
Rouse is currently ranked #2 in 5A.

Her sister was a setter at North Texas.

We won't be in the Top 25 long if we continue to play like we are are now.

Looks like the parent of another 2024 setter is a litter bitter about this decision.
"Interesting. The setter from the #1 5A team in the state was also on the radar for Rice but guess they choose size over athleticism. One girl was able to run a 5-1 and the other was not. "

I trust Genny. Skopal is currently a Top 10 ranked setter in her class. Of course, I expect Harris will be our setter for at least the next couple years once Carly departs.

What does "able to run a five one" mean.

(FTR, my aging laptop's five, hyphen & CTRL keys are not working after my monthlong shutdown for travel.)

Basically the same 1 setter all rotations. What we usually do with Carly.

lol Since when has Genny ever valued size over athleticism/talent? We tend to year-in, year-out have less size than almost any other team in the Top 25. I wish Genny would put a great emphasis on size, particularly in the front court. Currently, Kostelecky is our only regular over 6'0". And this has also been the case the past 5 years. We've always been undersized relative to the perennial powers....and it really hurts us in the block.

In the regular rotation. This year that would include the following 9 players...

Graham
Adekunle
Courtley
Maruska
Bichelmeyer
Kostelecky
McCardell
Harris
Mansfield
