Maybe. Looks like either the two teams play each other in the Sun Bowl, or both teams go home.

This makes sense. CMU can't just leave the Arizona Bowl for the Sun Bowl, it is obligated to the Arizona Bowl until that game is canceled.

So the Arizona Bowl first has to be given a chance to find a replacement for Boise. If it can't, then CMU can play in the Sun Bowl.

You realize how far El Paso is from Dallas right?

I am guessing ... No? They don't?

I do recall driving from East Texas to El Paso in the early 80's, and even if Dallas is a slight bit closer, I reckon it's a bit longer trip than they are imagining as possible within a single state.

It's a good 630 miles from Dallas to El Paso. I've driven that stretch a few times, it is deathly boring. Way more boring than San Antoni to El Paso, where at least you get to the see John Wayne's Old West along the way.

To put that distance in Eastern and Southern terms, that's farther than Washington DC to Detroit. A good 100 miles farther. It's farther than New Orleans to St Louis.

I find that a mile gets longer and longer the further west of the Mississippi I go.

You realize how far El Paso is from Dallas right?

Also, if the equipment truck is halfway to Boston that’s a huge problem.

I read yesterday SMU’s equipment truck was stuck between two 10-foot bridges in Connecticut.

I can't believe that would be an issue. No team worked out, yes.

That last statement was from left field. I actually would like to know why SMU was replaced by CMU.

I believe CMU is the 1st MAC team to play in the Sun Bowl game since 1962 when Ohio lost by 1 point to West Texas State, now West Texas A&M. That was the last Sun Bowl game played in old Kidd Field as the new stadium opened the next season.

Should be a good game between the Chippewas and Cougars.

One day out of the next 10 it's supposed to rain in El Paso. Guess which one.

CMU didn't replace SMU. They replaced Miami.

I knew the Cotton Bowl used to be played in the Cotton Bowl and the Sugar Bowl used to be played in the Sugar Bowl. I did not know the Sun Bowl used to be NOT played in the Sun Bowl 03-wink
