Musings for the 4th Monday of August:

Not trying to start an intra-state MAC war, of sorts, but is it advisable for an EMU student to date a WMU student?

"Oakland and Eastern Michigan universities are requiring a vaccine for students living on campus, while Western Michigan University is requiring regular testing of those who are unvaccinated."

Nothing earth shaking, but did not see the football news article for St. Francis.

Quote:Eastern Michigan vs. Saint Francis Prediction, Line
Eastern Michigan 38, Saint Francis 20

Saint Francis isn’t going to be afraid to start firing away on a suspect Eastern Michigan secondary. The consistency won’t be there, but the Red Flash will come up with a few good scoring drives to keep this from getting too brutal. EMU, though, will have too much experience and get too much from the D to let this slip away.

I expect the EMU offense to dominate and score at least 45 points.

Ideally, in this game the EMU offense should dominate and control the clock. Lot of running which might prevent St. Francis from having enough possessions to really test our defense.

I'd be surprised if we score a couple long TD passes. That doesn't seem to be how this team is built.

It would be good for Wayne State and for Detroit if that thing took off and i wish them the best of luck with that. I've got nothing against Murph - I think he did an alright job and I'm happy he landed on his feet.

He is President/GM of the G league team.

Where is his heart? Coaching? Managing?

As an NCAA coach he got to do both - roster management and coaching. Maybe he got sick of X's and O's. He wouldn't be the first.

I think president/GM is a very different job. It is really management of a sports entity.

Being a collegiate head coach is really that. Sure he has a budget, makes decisions on scheduling, etc. but the real management is done at the AD and higher level, esp. if the AD is also a VP.

Jeff sent me an email. If your season ticket includes
a parking past your mailing is delayed but you will get it before the game. This year's,gift is very nice. A mini football signed by Coach Creighton.

Rob is a classy and talented guy, he most likely succeed at whatever he endeavors to do. His career at EMU was hardly a failure, after all he lasted ten years! His work product as a head coach, however, became outdated. That is a common malady of NCAA coaches or else Lloyd Carr, Les Miles, Thad Motta, etc... might still be coaching.

He may not even end his work life in sports. Rick Rasnick left and really cleaned up in the insurance industry. A NCAA coach acquires skill sets in sales (recruiting), organization, public speaking, management and training/development. Rob is going to be just fine, we all will envy his income.

Penny Hardaway seems like a fun guy to play for. Real fun teams to watch. Best proof you can go home again.
