Yeah, if college football is gonna embrace superconferences, let's at least have them set it up similar to original conferences, SWC & SEC, ACC & Big East, Big Ten & PAC-12, etc.

I’m not following you, what about Rice, TCU, SMU, Baylor, Houston, and Texas Tech? They were also a part of the SWC, but they are left out of the new SEC.

RE: Rivalries
I think that there are two dynamics here.
One that’s been pointed out is that some schools have two significant historic rivalries, such as Oklahoma vs Texas and OU/OSU. Only one of those rivalries could be played on a given weekend.
The other is the involvement of a fan as it regards their own school’s rivalry versus a fan’s engagement in rivalry games in general. Oklahomans obviously are very specifically engaged in Bedlam, for example, although many football fans in Oklahoma likely enjoy watching the intensity of games like Ohio State/Michigan or Alabama/Auburn. The original poster was right in that there are only so many TV slots on rivalry week Saturday to start with, and that’s also impacted by people going to their own games or otherwise focusing on them.
I see both sides - it’s fun to have a week with a lot of rivalry games, but it’d also be good to spread them around a little to make it easier to see more of them.

I’m saying 6/8 SEC West was at the table for the formation of the SWC, but some didn’t join (Ole Miss and LSU).

RE: Rivalries
No surprise, I like regional conferences so the fans can travel by car to all of the games, both home and away. But TV controls that now. As well as the time slots and money.

I’m right there with ya. I’ve always rooted for SMU since I watched them play UNC like 20 years ago. I hope you guys can survive and thrive in this new climate.
